Tips for Traveling
We all travel at some point in our lives. Whether by train, plane, car, bus, or even hot air balloon. It's always good to have some traveling tips to make for the best vacations. Here are some personal tips that I have discovered during some of my own travel experiences that may make your day just a bit more relaxing rather than stress. Wouldn't that be counter-productive?
Packing | Flight | Extra's |
- Roll your shirts and undergarments in even size rolls and then seal them in plastic bags or vacuum seal travel bags to add more room.
- Separate jewelry into snack size plastic bags and store them in a safe place in your suitcase.
- Spread the weight between all of your luggage bags for easier handling, and avoiding hefty fees.
- Use certified TSA locks for your baggage.
- Store fragile contents in the center of your baggage to provide padding.
- Use travel size containers with a small piece of plastic wrap under the cap to prevent leakage and then store in a plastic bag.
- Pack socks or valuables into shoes and all of your electronic wires wires similarly.

- Have everthing ready the night before.
- Arrive 2-3 hours early to the airport to get through baggage, security, and get to your flight gate.
- Store all tickets, cash, cards, and important documents together to avoid delays at the airport.
- Dress appropriately for security: Avoid too many layers.
- If traveling with children, bring photos taken that morning in case of separation.
- Travel is minimal in the early mornings, so plan your flight for then to avoid traffic and a smoother commute.
- A small carry-on and computer bag/purse are acceptable for most flights: store essential items such as medicines, documents and food.
- Have clearly written/typed luggage tags so they get to the same destination.

- Always bring a small amount of cash whenever you travel in case of issues with credit cards.
- Bring multiple credit cards and alert your issuing banks of when and where you are traveling to expect these charges.
- Have someone back home watch your home and be our check-in person when traveling in case of emergencies.
- Most airports and major banks can convert currency for you, but it is also good practice to convert before departure.
- Traveling to a country with a different official language calls for use of a translator or language dictionary.
- Use passport wallets that hang around your neck or waist to hide your important documents and money/cards.
- Calling cards are your best friend when traveling abroad. Stock up.
- Have fun!
