"Divine Healing Today"
![]()
Divine healing today in the world seems almost non-existence. Regretfully in the church we seem to maintain the same mentality as the world. We are the ones that should be leading the world to divine healing and salvation, through the authority of Jesus Christ. But more often we are the ones hurting and feeling worse than the lost. What can be done about this dire situation? What can we do about it ourselves? First let us rule out the obvious.
We can do nothing:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
So basically we do not have the power or authority to do anything that would cause a positive outcome. Because Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing."
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15: 5
So what can be done? Since we cannot do anything on our own, the power we need to produce healing must come from One that is much greater then us. So, if it is power we are seeking, we should seek the Creator of all power. I believe in going straight to the top.
If you have a problem in the world we always look to a manager or member of management. It seems there is always a higher source or authority. We need to find someone in upper management, an author or the Chief Executive. Finding this person is quite difficult. Believing this person will help you requires even more trust. First we need to find the proper authority. To find the proper authority, we must calculate whose authority is best for our needs. Calculating authority is actually easy. If we are looking for an authority in a business, we should look in that business directory for the highest ranking official.
If we are looking for authority in healing, we should be looking at the directory of healing for the highest-ranking official also. One just needs to follow the paper chase through the directory to realize just whose authority we need to be dealing with.
Being followers of Christ, we ought to realize that we need to go straight to the top in these matters as well. If we are looking for healing then we need to look here first, and find out what the easiest way to be healed is.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20
This has already been done so it requires the least amount of effort from us. So, since the Word has the power to heal, we need to latch hold of the Word. The authority of the Word is the key. Now where is this Word today?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
He was in the beginning with God; John 1:2
all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. John 1:3
And the Word was God. Think about the authority of the Word for just a minute.
It was God! Therefore the Word has Gods authority.
All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14
Okay, it is starting to appear confusing, but lets recount our steps.
So after three short steps in this paper chase we see that:
The Word was sent.
The Word was here in the beginning.
The Word was God.
And the Word was made flesh.
Now, I understand where the Word comes from, but how does it have the authority to heal? I realize God is the creator but what about healing. I need to find the Word in flesh form. Lets go on:

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:_ Philippians 2:9
So, not only was nothing made without him, but also his name is above everything that has a name. For nothing that has been made is without a name, including hell, death, illness, pain, loneliness, suffering, depression, hate, lust, and temptation. These are all names, so any name may be inserted here, and His name would be above it too.
Does this apply to today? Of course it does because:
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
So we see that the Word of God is living and active. So that should stimulate our own minds and reaffirm our hearts to the fact that:
Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25
Three important points here:
The Word is living and active
He is able for all time,
He always lives to make intercession,
Now we can answer the first question in the study of healing by the Word. Where is the power?
The Word was God,
There is healing in the sent Word,
The Word was made flesh through Jesus Christ,
He is alive for all time to make intercession to the Father.
His Name is above any other name.
Therefore the author and the chief executive of healing is the Word, or Jesus.
So, that is the cycle of healing. Now, how can this be a positive impact to our life? We need to receive healing. In order to receive healing we must first ask ourselves.
What do I have to do to receive this healing?
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. I John 3:22
So, what ever we ask for, we can receive because we keep his commandments.
And what commandments are we talking about here?
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. I John 3:23
Believe on the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another. This doesnt sound too tough.
So, what should we do if we dont have the faith to believe? What if we are in too much pain or tribulation concerning our healing? There is an answer for this question too.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: James 5:14
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15
The double blessing here is not only are you healed but also, your sin is forgiven.
So when we ask and receive by faith, what will we actually receive in return?
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
So now that we receive him and have been given the power to become the sons of God.
How can we check our progress to make sure we are still on the right track?
Because Jesus said,
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:28
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:29
I and my Father are one. John 10:30
Since Jesus and the Father are One and no one can steal you away from the Father (for He is greater than anything), which is a powerful thought all of its own, then no one can steal you away from Jesus, the Word. And we know that the Word was sent and they were healed. So, not only is there healing in the Word, but the Word holds you in His Hand. And no one will ever be able to take you away from his hand again.
So when people come to Jesus today, it is the same as it was then. He is able to do the following:
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: Matthew 8:16
Look at what cast out the devils----his Word. [Powerful Stuff!]
Then look at the healing. The operative word there is all.
Jesus sent out the twelve and charged them to:
And preach as you go, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 10:7
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying, give without pay. Matthew 10:8
So, since we receive without payment, it has to be a free gift from Jesus. There is noting we can do to monetarily pay for healing.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32
Not only is there healing available, but all things are available to us.
Now we can answer one of the first questions. On whose authority are we able to do these things?
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12
At this point it must become clear to us all that there is a God and his Word, and the Son who was the Word become flesh or alive and he was sent to destroy the works of the devil, because:
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. John I 3:8
Now it starts to really come together, we alone can do nothing, but through the authority of Jesus Christ, who was sent to destroy the works of the devil, we have the authority in his name to do all the good that he has done and even greater things.

Now let us decipher just what Jesus said about himself.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me. _John 14: 6
Defined by Webster:
Way: A road, route, path, or passage that leads from one place to another.
Truth: Highest achievable reality.
Life: Human existence. Interval between birth and death
1.) Way, the only passage to the Father.
2.) Truth, the most certain realism.
3.) Life, In correlation of the Word, He was with God in the beginning. So his life must be from everlasting past to everlasting future.
We know that Jesus is with the Father because he stated to his disciples before he was arrested.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7
And since Jesus has departed and is now at the right Hand of His Fathers throne in Heaven, now the Comforter or Holy Spirit is here and resides with us.

Are these things all true? Yes!
Does all creation believe this? No!
The enemy believes it more than the people of God:
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19
Heaven knows, Hell knows, but only a few by comparison in the world knows. But now we know.
And what about scoffers who say to those who believe that this is all one big fairy tale, an old book full of hype, smoke and mirrors? Well, this is what one eyewitness wrote:
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. II Peter 1:16
As I have already stated this is the easiest way I have found to believe in divine healing. There are many other truthful ways to believe and some of them are:
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Peter I 2:24
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. Acts 28:8
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. Luke 8:47
Each one of these beliefs is just a part of the good news of Jesus Christ. There is so much more that reaches to eternity itself; we need to re-capture what is rightfully ours by the inheritance given to us by God Almighty. And exercise our authority in the Word through Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High Living God.
If Jesus was here today, and we have proven that not only he is here by the Spirit, but by the Word and that he was here in the beginning, and was with God and was God. Then he would simply ask:
"What would you have me do?"
So, may I so boldly ask in his name? What will you have Him do for you today?
