Genma disliked flowers.

Oh yes, he disliked them very much.

He disliked their beauty, their meanings, the cycle of their lives... mate, die, repeat. Mate. Die. REPEAT.

They reminded him of his family; of things he'd rather forget.

So, you see, Genma had a reason to dislike flowers.

No one likes to open their eyes to crying faces.

Especially not Genma.

And no one likes to have flowers shoved under their noses after hearing such gut-wrenching news.

Especially, and I hope we've established this fact, not Genma.

Hayate's funeral, though small, was swarmed with many different types of flowers.

Hayate was allergic to flowers.

Genma thought of his friend's soul choking on them.

He really, really disliked flowers. Even more so than before.

One day while visiting Hayate's grave he saw flowers.

He ripped them apart.

Hayate stopped choking.

Genma still disliked flowers.

And that was that.
