RECRUITMENT TOOLS: A New Look at Table Topics
by Melissa Neofes Mischak

Recently, I had the opportunity to do a little preaching, if you will, about the value of Toastmasters. After being asked about my favorite segment of the meeting, without hesitation I said, "Table Topics".  Not only have I benefited from the practice that Table Topics allows, but I have found Table Topics to be an important recruiting tool. Here are my Top Ten (thanks Mr. Letterman) Table Topic benefits for you to share in recruiting new membership:

10.  Provides you with the confidence to network in social and professional situations.
  9.  Sharpens your "on the spot" presentation skills.
  8.  Enables you to focus your thoughts to create a sound, tight message.
  7.  Gives you the ability to overcome the fear of public speaking in a fun, light-hearted manner.
  6.  Creates an arsenal of usable information for work or play.
  5.  Inspires creative thought.
  4.  Energizes your ability to handle difficult situations.
  3.  Increases your marketability as you interview with prospective employers.
  2.  Focuses your imagination to the possible.
  1.  Empowers you with the ability to engage in meaningful conversation to connect you with countless professional opportunities.
