Figure Modification with Corseting

Figure modification
with 5" to 10" waist reductions require figure training. This is possible with only a few hours of training each day, but for best results and the greater reductions maximizing the time in the corset is recommended, removing it only for bathing and exercise.
Modern physicians agree that those aiming for a very small waist, near permanent wear minimizes health risks as this allows the internal organs to settle and adapt into the modified shape. Opponents of body modification are convinced that it is unsafe and dangerous, but it has been demonstrated in the present and the past that the body is naturally capable of accepting compression and allows for considerable organ movement without ill effect.  Organ displacement and compression during pregnancy, especially the third trimester, is far greater than from any tightlacing. Provided the guidelines are followed (see "How to") the internal organs are unaffected by it, because they are semi fluid and very flexible. This flexibility allows us to move about and bend our bodies, or ...enjoy wearing a tight corset.

Training belts
If for social reasons it is not possible to be available from Romantasycorseted all day, training belts are recommended. (Romantasy, JC-creations) These are wide soft leather belts specifically designed for waist training preparation. These are worn as tight as possible and allow step wise 1" reductions up to 4" to 6". They can be worn invisibly under loose clothing day and night to help prepare and maintain the body for and during corset training.. They can be worn during workouts, while maintaining the waist and protecting the back by increasing intra abdominal pressure, like a lifting belt. Note that abdominal compression with corsets has been the traditional treatment method for back pain relief (shown lower right). These types of supports are less concerned with shaping and are as a result less attractive, yet they function in the same way as fashionable corsets.

Post Partum figure restoration

The tretching and subsequent loss of muscle tone often presents a post partum figure challeng
e. Although directly after delivery an abdominal binder can be worn for support, usually after four to six weeks it is possible to transition to a conventional laced corset to help figure restoration.
In particular "abdominus recti", or a separation in front of the abdominal muscle requires use of a support. The model shown can be used effectively, and a laced corset that is long below the waist can effectively be used after that.  The model shown as an example below right is available from Orthoservices.

Targets
Whatever reduction you decide on (also see Waist Targets in "How to"), proceed slowly and with commitment. Discomfort is an indication that the corset is too tight. However, a pleasant feeling of pressure and support in the lower chest, waist and abdomen is normal.
