Okay. Be prepared for an angry rant about How America Stole Christmas. Why do we celebrate Christmas? It is the celebration of Christ's birth. People who are not christian celebrate it anyway. I was at the Christmas Eve service yesterday at the Baptist church and Pastor Chad was doing the children's part. All the little kids go down to the front and he does a little part of the sermon just for them. Well, he had a candle lit. And he was all like, "Kids, when do we use candles?" He was waiting for someone to say, "On a birthday cake." The first answer he got was, "Hanukkah." Okay, go ahead, laugh, it's funny. But what does it say? He finally got the answer he was looking for in the fifth kid he called on. Obviously, America has gotten a hold of the holiday and made it about everything else. The food, the presents, being with family, the traditions. I mean, the littler kids don't even know what Christmas is supposed to be about. That's why I'm so anti-presents. It takes away from the whole point. I accepted them from my parents, but the rest of you... if you haven't already, don't. I hate feeling like I'm supposed to buy people presents, and accept them from others, just because it's Christmas and everyone exchanges gifts. It just doesn't seem as special when everyone is getting them as when you surprise someone with something "just because". I also feel the same way about getting stuff on my birthday. Which is why I'm not having a party, and I'm not actually going to school on my birthday. So ha. And that was my yearly angry rant on How America Stole Christmas.
