One day they appeared and
Stray bullets shot the stars
And glass shattered and fell
Without a sound. Hitting the
Ground and melting into
The pavement. No flowers here
Anymore. The trees cut down
their only reverence the
Streets named after them.

Even the signs were replaced
with new names. And them
There were no names for anything.
Just numbers as cool and
Harsh as the CDs they
Play. Each the same without character.
This is the life now that they arrived.
