Extra Virgin
was the now-defunct project of Rogers Stevens , post-Blind Melon. He
paired with the New York based musician Rene Lopez, previously with
the funk-rock act The Authority. The duo met up in late-1997 and started
to write songs together. Backed by other musicians they indipendently
released on Old Lady Records the lp "Twelve Stories High"
in 1999, recorded at the Kingsway Studios, New Orleans (where Blind
Melon had recorded Soup) and produced by Mike Napolitano (who had previously
worked with Blind Melon,too).
However,a
few month ago (spring 2002) Extra Virgin have announced their breakup
. Now that official site exvirgin.com has shut down (seems forever)
it's become hard to find "Twelve Stories High" . I've read
somewhere that Rogers Stevens now makes paintings for a living, so we're
probably not gonna hear new stuff for a while! 01-20-04:
Update! Rogers Stevens and Rene Lopez formed a
new band with Royston Langdon (formerly of Spacehog), they're called
Spartacle. Maybe new Rogers' stuff in the future!
