(this is him)
For those interested in knowing more bout the autor of the Blind Melon's great black-shaped pics here's some info.
Danny Clinch was born in Tom's River , NJ in 1964. He has shot lots of BM pics , being their official photographer for a while.
After working as assistant for Annie Leibowitz and some additional work , he started to shot for Spin magazine in 1992 and now he's one of the most known photographers of musical people (he's done the artwork for 1999's Foo Fighters album ). He uses a lot of different cameras , from his 35mm Leica M6 to Holga cameras ,as well as widelux panoramic cameras . Noticable his work for 1996 Tibetan Freedom Concert.
He's also into music as well:he played harmonica in the song Hell (on Nico) , and played with the band at Woodstock '94.

"The actual Discovery Inn was a little road side motel that I came across that had a great little saying on the marquee where it usually says 'welcome cub scout troop number 9' and it said, 'if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space'. My friend, Shannon Hoon, at the time was in a rehab and I decided to make a postcard of the sign. I kept the negative and was considering to use it in the book when someone suggested it be used as the title. It's actually is very fitting for a collection of photographs I think because there's lots to discover in there."
