ZAI

Played By: Manda

Cub Name (if any): None

Previous Names (if any): None

Soulname: Hawl

Race: Go-Back

Gender: Male

Age: 32 turns

Height: average height for a Go-Back, stands about an inch or two shorter than his father.

Build: average build, though a little on the slighter side of average, with lean muscle instead of bulk.

Hair Color: near black and long to his shoulder blades. He keeps it pulled back in a braid with rawhide thongs wrapped around it. He has shorter pieces that fall into his eyes and it seems like he's constantly pushing them away or tucking them behind his ears.

Eyes: solid chocolate brown, a bit narrow and lined with impossibly long eyelashes that many a female envy him for.

Skin Color: pale with an olive tone. Skin that will eventually tan.

Facial Features: Zai is more pretty than handsome, with a thin face and straight nose. He has two dimples that hide in his cheeks and thin arching brows. His lips are a bit thin and quick to smile.

Voice: Distinctly male, deeper than you would expect coming from him

Mental Voice: Same.

Scars, Birthmarks, Etc.: a few small scars on his forearms, from training with his weapons, a tiny birthmark on the back of his neck, just a splotch of darker skin. He has a small scar on his lip from a backhanded slap from Griel that split his lip open.

Occupation: next in line to be Chief of the Go-Back tribe

Lovemate: Jaelar

Lifemate: None.

Recognized: None.

Family: Griel (father, alive) Chan (mother, deceased) Cheyli (sister, missing)

Children: None.

Usual Clothing: a leather vest, worn open without a shirt underneath, tan pants, slung low on his hips and short dark brown boots. The pants flare slightly at the bottom over the boots. All of his clothes are slightly worn from travel.

Heavy Clothing: a thick fur hat and jacket over a plain leather shirt. Will wear the same pants, but tucked into knee high fur boots. Thick gloves and a scarf complete the outfit.

Light Clothing: a simple loincloth, squared off at the bottom. He will wear his usual vest and a pair of short ankle length boots.

Jewelry/Adornments: a thin leather choker with a bear tooth on it, a gift from Jaelar

Weapons/Tools: a set of throwing daggers that he's mastered, he prefers to stay away from the action. Is also decent with a bow and was trained in wrestling, though he doesn't like it (unless it's under the furs with Jaelar!)

Special Items: his necklace

Magic: weak sending

Fears: having to take his father's place as Chief, that his father will admit that he is a disappointment to him.

Likes: being with Jaelar, singing

Dislikes: when he and his father argue, when Griel hits him (though it doesn't happen all that often)

Personality: Zai is a simple man with simple pleasures, the type to be found walking alone, humming a song and dancing with the butterflies. He is a bit on the feminine side, easily hurt and slow to stand up for himself. He is a beautiful spirit, but he tends to get lost in the shuffle and looked over.

He is timid for a Go-Back and he knows that his father often wonders where he came from. The subject of his father is a sensitive one and a topic that Zai will try to avoid if at all possible. Inside he just wants to be accepted for who he is, but he knows that his father even telling him that he's proud would never happen.

Sees Self As: Unworthy of being his father's son.

History: Zai was born a strong child, worthy of his father's pride and worthy of being Chief, but that soon changed as he grew. While other children his age were learning to hunt and ride, Zai was content to wander alone, singing and getting lost in his imagination.

When he was ten turns old, Griel buckled down on him and forced him to learn to fight and hunt. Zai excelled, but never enjoyed these things. Only one turn before the Quest started, Zai and Jaelar became lovemates. Zai loves Jaelar with all his heart and contrary to the Go-Back way, has never shared the furs with another.

When Chan died, Zai was heartbroken and turned to his sister for the maternal love that he clung to. Zai and his sister always got along well, but he always felt like he was stuck in her shadow. It seemed that Cheyli was more of the son that Greil wanted. Zai always felt kinship with his sister and she was always there to calm his fears and tend his bruises from his father's rough hand. With Cheyli gone, Zai feels that his chances of being Chief next are much higher. Zai fears ever having to take his father's place as Chief and hopes that his father will find a successor before he dies.

Quote: "But Father, I don't want to be Chief! I just want to SIIIING!" (Hee hee. Just kidding.)
