THERE IS A WAR

There is a war between right and wrong. A war between Islam and God. There is a war.

There is a New War. A different war. A war not on battlefields, but on high streets. We are all targets now. Targets of lies, targets of terrorists. Our elected leaders attempt to sideswipe and confound us with lies and half-truths. Terrorists, whomever they are, see all of us are reasonable targets given of course, that democracy represents the will of the people. And we, the people obviously want to invade foreign countries.

There is a war between us and Them. Armies chase after the invisible bogeyman. There is a war.

ALL THE NEWS THATS FIT TO PULP

In the meantime, that cretinous fool Richard Littlejohn is spouting more rubbish in The Sun, this time, stating that being Anti-War wont help you. Well, all well and good for him to say. The beauty of democracy is that even those who are wrong have the right to be so.

Richard Littlejohn is, and it galls me to say it, in some respects right. Being Anti-War wont save me. But being Pro-War wont save me either. But if all of us were Anti-War, not one prime minister excluded, then maybe that could save us.

After all, if all our Presidents and Prime Ministers were anti-war, there wouldnt be a war. At least, not in this form. By waging war and invading foreign countries on the pretext of making this world safer it has in fact made it more dangerous.

Fighting for peace is like fucking for celibacy. Doesnt work.

Maybe Im a more sentient being than others. But I always thought being Anti-War was a good thing, indicating as it does, an aversion to conflict, mass murder, and armed warfare. Generally those who are Anti-War are, for some strange reason, probably the type of people youd like to be with. After all, if I had a disagreement with someone, I wouldnt want that person to declare War on me.

Then again, the idea of declaring a state of War with my wife would probably not be too far removed from reality, being as it is a fair and balanced summation of the situation : total non co-operation on her part, absolute boredom on mine.

Nonetheless, thats a whole different story. The simple fact of the matter is that War always generates more losers than winners : War always destroys more than it creates : War is the greatest industry there is, and for every enemy that you murder, you create a martyr. For every martyr, an army of avengers will rise.

HUMAN NATURE

Human nature is that simple the desire to avenge, the desire for justice and to correct the perceived injustices perpetrated against you is an unarguable, inevitable fact of human emotional programming. Now, for example, sometimes I want to murder my brother not literally, but when hes been particularly annoying but that doesnt give you or anyone else the right to do so on my behalf.

But maybe we should think about this way.

There is a war. It is not fought on battlefields, or Iraqi desert plains, or even in the front pages of our newspapers. The war is far more violent, far more dirty, far more insidious than that. Its a new war. A war between ideologies, between religion and liberalism, between capitalism and idealism, between the powerful and the powerless, between extinction and salvation.

If there is a war, undoubtedly we will all lose. We are the pawns in this war. Our thoughts, our feelings are the currency over which they fight. They know that we have power, that we are not necessarily the powerless masses which they would like us to believe, and that we as a whole need to either be so comfortable as to not be bothered or not against the status quo in order to maintain the hierarchy of society.

I know, it all sounds far too theoretical. Far too analytical. Far too dry.

So lets put it this way. All entertainment is a method of keeping you from finding out whats going on. Just sit up, watch television, and enjoy it. Dont think or question.

THEM

But this New War is the way they chose it. They, Them, the mysterious figures in suits and uniforms who control all things. If of course, youre a paranoid, as I undoubtedly am. But think of it this way.

The terrorist war being waged against the so called First World is the direct consequence of the remorseless exploitation of everyone and everything by capitalism, which is the religion that the West follows. All our pretences about God and Justice are bullshit. All the West is interested in is getting ahead of other people, irrespective of the cost. For too long we have seen the rest of the world (that is everywhere that isnt America or Europe) as a horde of treasure to be plundered. We drain the oil fields dry, the crops raw from the ground, invade and enslave wherever and however we feel like it, and we act with impunity. As if nothing can touch us.

We swan about. Filling the airwaves with bad TV shows about rich, stupid people living in the light of absolute luxury, whilst around us we drive billions into poverty. And those billions want something back. They want repatriation. They want their fair share : of the luxuries. Of the riches that the CEOs of these multimillion firms take home. Of such fanciful treats as clean, running water, roofs that dont leak, and food that isnt rotten. This is the new war. An army of a select, privileged few, the Pigs of Animal Farm, with their safe, conformist army of consumers who question nothing (The Sheep) and the Military (The Dogs), are enforcing oppression of the rest of the world. And when the powerless feel they have no option, no recourse, they resort to terrorism. And instead of blaming the terrorists, maybe we need to look at ourselves and ask ourselves the questions.

Why do they do this? It is not, Mr. Bush, because they Hate Our Freedoms. You stupid Dry Drunk Nincompoop. It is because they Hate Our Privileges. Because they have been denied the basics we can allow. They have been denied food, water, shelter, clothing, democracy. They have been oppressed by centuries of exploitation of everything they have in every way possible. The terrorists are bringing the kind of misery back home.

Its time for the major corporations to act ethically and responsibily. To stop buying government, swinging elections, slipping campaign donations to corrupt politicians and death squads, to stop bending laws and rules, in order to make even more profit. There are only so many houses you can own, so many boats you ride behind, and so many millions or billions you can make. Now is the time to cease seeing the world as some kind of endless Treasure to be ripped off, but as a delicate, and fast diminishing, resource for our continued survival. The time will come and it will be by 2021 according to the Pentagon where the number of people on this planet will outstrip the number of people this planet can support. Mankind is reaching critical mass. And unless we do something about it now, there wont even be a future to regret the mistakes of yesterday in. Time and opportunity are running out. Act now.
