“THE GLORY OF SUMMER” 13 May 98

Summer makes me sad
the tiny criss-cross lines
that shine
in naked sun
on a summer shirt
that quietly hurt
but may not heal
you smile

is it sunshine,
or calm?

those teenage mistakes
those tiny scars
glimmering in the summer
on a maternal body
and her two year old asks
what are those?
its hard to explain to a child
the concept of depression

.

well sort of maybe are you sure sometimes its hard to be sure when the ground is sinking away under your feet and you cant feel or explain quite what you feel and you know how you feel something - something bad and somethings wrong and something that may never go away but nothing lasts forever not even the darkness or the day or the fear or feeling Ok, all these things go away in time, like fear and lies, and day and night, and everythings goes away, everything ends, and someday, even darkness will end.
