THE STEPFORD WORLD
We’re losing our human identity. No longer are we individuals, no longer are we people. Every man, woman, and child on this planet is chasing the same thing : a Hollywoodised vision of homogenic perfection. Where we all look the same, think the same, act the same.
Difference and diversity threatens the profit levels.
We’re all taught and brainwashed to fit to a set of ideals : physically impossible and improbable straitjackets of conformity, of perfect blue eyes and bone structure we’re always chasing, of slender bone structures and size 10 figures.
Despite the excess of choice, culture is just offering us a homogeneity of options. Pepsi or Coke, Labour or Tory : that’s no choice. There’s no such thing anymore. Corner shops are forced out of the market by Sainsburys and Wal-Mart. Every sign of human expression is shaved and poured into a box, a uniform production line. And schools too are just factories, producing little slaves.
Gee. I’m a happy bunny. But think about it – everything is the same. Everything is pre-packaged, flat packed, manufactured. Our clothes, our hair, everything. One company, or a small set of companies control the television programmes, the record companies, the film companies, our news channels, our sources of information and our means of expression.
Thinking for ourselves threatens profits : it threatens control and it threatens the status quo. The thing that limits human evolution is the maintenance of the status quo. In order to evolve, in order for mankind to survive, we need to change, we need to evolve, we need to think for ourselves.
Sure. That’s hippy talk. But if you are going to spread a message I’d rather spread Peace than profit. We need to move on. Come on, world. Let’s go.
