SMART BOMBS, STUPID PEOPLE

The Americans call the French “Surrender Monkeys”. And “Terrorist Appeasers”.

Of course, with one of those statements, the Americans are half-right. But it’s not just The French, but all human beings who are “Monkeys”. Naked Apes, if you will. Two legs, two arms, a face. A monkey has all these things. So in a lot of respects, humans are just another animal : the most advanced animal there is. The one with the most, and the best toys.

But no idea how to use it. No idea what to do. Mankind is an animal : these amazing tools at its disposal. But like an animal, lacking the one thing that elevates us beyond that. Instead of thinking about what we do, the should we, man only consides the question : could we? Would we? There is no should. Only can or can not.

We still think like animals. We still see the world not in terms of a global community, but as individual entities, each one of us an isolated creature, trying to get one over on everyone else, achieve a state of nirvana, security, freedom to do whatever the fuck we want.

THE MONOLITH

Human DNA is 96% identical to that of monkeys. Mankind, that is, all of us, are hyper-developed monkeys. If it wasn’t for that monolith, who knows, we might still be living in caves. Not even banging the rocks together, let alone knowing how to bang the drums.

But morally, mankind is still an animal. Mostly a well behaved, pack animal, that exists in small, remote herds, living next door to their kin, yet not knowing who they are.

Cannibals have a theory that we adopt the qualities of those we eat. Most of us then, vegetarians excepted, are docile creatures : content to be trapped in small spaces, bled of our milk and our flesh, used as consumables and thrown away mercilessly when consumed. It’s not a happy thought, but a capitalist one. We are meat and we are cows.

But man is an animal. Treat him like an animal and he behaves like one. Give him the power and watch him abuse it.

FAKE PLASTIC IDEALS

The recent torture pics of Iraqi Prisoners show this. The question is not if they are fake or not. Some undoubtedly are. Some undoubtedly are not. (And anyone who doubts this should look at the quite unsafe-for-work sexinwar.com). What is shocking is that place any human being in a position of power and they will abuse it. Some more than others. And more than that, that the people who abuse and torture others are meant to be The Defenders Of The Faith. The Bastions, the guardians of moral correctness, the right, the free, the just. And these people, by abusing and torturing their prisoners, are defiling the very tenements and foundations of everything they are claiming to protect. They should be prosecuted. Imprisoned. Made someone’s little prison bitch.

What’s almost more shocking is that, in an attempt to dispute and dilute the actual photographic evidence, some dark actors somewhere have deliberately faked torture pics, used them to discredit the truth. In a capitalist democracy, the truth is merely detail. There are only two types of people : the powerful and the powerless.

Mankind is just a collection of animals. We know what morals are; we just do not follow them. We trump them as virtuous, yet discard them when they inconveniently obstruct our own greed and benefit. We know what things do : we know how to drive cars, how to drop smart bombs. We just know not how to use them. We know not how the world works. We know not the right thing to do. Just what we can do, and what we cannot.
