“RETROSPECTIVE” 24 Jun 01
I was thinking of
the way things were
if you had stayed
I don’t want to get sentimental
its just bricks and mortar
I don’t mind leaving behind
I don’t want to see the room
where you lied to,
lied down with me
I don’t want to live in the last century
if you’d stayed
life would be very different
I’d still be living in
five rooms and a corridor
overlooking the bus stop
where kids fight
dealers make deals
as wind chills me
I wouldn’t have met my wife
you wouldn’t be living with your mum
you say
‘there’s nothing left to say’
there’s only one thing you could say
its what you are always too proud to say
‘sorry’.
