dawn holds tight - skin soaked again - woke up in the night - pissed on again - shop doorway - my dream home had four walls - I did everything right - now I’m alone - promised protection - welfare state - left with nothing - life is unfaithful - money is a whore - I followed your instructions - the plan, the grand design - the rewards to be great - a release to the promised land - left with only my clothes - evicted from my future - I sleep in doorways - and blame politicians - I worked so hard - lost it all - it could happen to you - I sold everything - just to pay for the bills - now - I am nothing - but my memories - a prison has four walls - my dream home has four walls - a broken promised land
