“A MILLION LOVERS” 7th Sept 01
There’s flowers on the roadside
and an ambulance on the hill
there’s a fight to the death
an unopened will
true love never lies
a life before these eyes
flashes and falls
this man, whose bloodline
split a fractured family
half-daughters and mothers
a thouand branches on the family tree
my love will never die
it lives through other peoples lives
it lay down with strangers in the night
behind the back of my public life
a secret face, a hidden bride
in the back of an ambulance in the sunshine
a battle lost
a million weeping lovers grieve
at the cemetery gates
