all these stupid love songs
are ultimately useless
they won’t bring the next lovers dawn
or hasten another intoxicating kiss :

for youth is naïve
and this we know
take a chance on me
and on with the show

for every high like this
the low will beckon you
why do we exist
for the hope of love
what goes up
must ultimately come down
we carry on – there is no why
we survive through the storm

because we’re as stubborn as love
and just as dumb.
