“100 %” 13 June 98
Only 100 people in Britain
make a living from poetry
One million poets
but most are unspeakably dreary
much like me
endless streams of
unpublished routines
rants and raves that remain unread
no poetry reading
or discreet tome
for the bus driver
office worker
poet alone
Why can’t I.....
get laid, get rich,
get made and
scratch that itch -
all these things are the bread and the butter
of a million frustrated mutterers
trying to rhyme
the complaints of their lives
