Nintendo 64 (N64)

The First legit 64 bit system on the 1996-7 market, the N64 has new and improved 3d graphics and processing chipset.

This was also the first system I played. It was discontinued in 2001 and had 296 games released. Some of the top sellers were

Playstation 1 (PS1)

The result of a partnership with Nintendo gone bad. It was supposed to be a cd-based add-on for the SNES, but Nintendo cut the deal and partnered with Philips. Sony decided to make the most of that by converting the add-on into a fully functional game system. With over 200? games released, the Playstation demolished the Sega Saturn's chance of even getting a chance in the spot light. Its ability to play cds made it stand out as well. However, since CD-Roms are read-only, the save cannot be on the disk but instead on a memory card. I lost all my memory cards and can't find any more to buy. (Cheapest: $20)
