On April 2, 1969 the steering committee was dissolved and a new association was named the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Hospital Auxiliaries (NLAHA.) NLAHA became a sector of the Newfoundland Hospital Association (NHA.)
In January 1985 NLAHA joined the Canadian Association of Hospital Auxiliaries.
In 1986 the titles of the Newfoundland Hospital Association, the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Hospital Auxiliaries and the Canadian Association of Hospital Auxiliaries were changed to the Newfoundland Hospital and Nursing Home Association (NHNHA,) the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries (NLAHA, and the Canadian Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries (CAHA.)
The first issue of the provincial newsletter, The Auxiliary Link, was published in 1989.
Life membership was introduced in 1996.
The association is funded by fees paid by each auxiliary across Newfoundland and Labrador that comprise the NLAHA. Profits from the annual convention, crafts and National Product Line provide additional operating funds. Each year the association receives a grant from the NHNHA.
The executive, which is comprised of Past President, President, President-Elect, Second Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, meet regularly to discuss issues affecting auxiliaries and health care in Newfoundland and Labrador.
