[Amazon #1] Amazon #1:
Amazon was flying over a Mediterranean body of water when an unlikely storm appeared. She tried to use her mutant powers to stop the storm, but she is unable to do it and falls below the water's surfce. Resurfacing, she faces Poseidon. Though she attempts battle with the mad god, she is not powerful enough to prevent him from shunting her below the water's surface again and into Poseidon's trophy room.
In Baton Rouge, Louisianna, Angelic and her mother are at home when Angelic gets a psychic flash and decides to check in Ororo's apartment. Yet instead of finding her, they find Diana, who promptly faints with exhaustion.
In Poseidon's cave, Amazon finds a statue of a female, and recognizes it as something Professor Malcolm had found 25 years ago. When Poseidon finds her with the statue, he feels he was justified to have destroyed the ship Professor Malcolm was on (including her parents and a thousand others).
Amazon is astonished to learn of this, and calls him a foolish god who has forgotten his place in the universe. For that, Poseidon decides to give her a slow painful death. He pauses only to allow her to explain why she made such a statement.
Once, the Olympians stood above all that lived as the most powerful on earth, shaping the lives of humankind. But as humans progressed, they turned to other gods and knowledge. Now they are remembered only in halls of museums and through scholars of antiquity. Professor Malcolm sought to rekindle their memories, but Poseidon (in pettiness and greed) saw him only as a theif. Poseidon is deeply hurt by Ororo's reasoning and releases her.

Assassins #1:
Assassins Slade (Dare) Murdock and Elektra (Catsai) Kyle join forces to combat a group of assassins, Deadeye, Wired, and Lethal who have targeted the mayor of New Gotham for death.

[BatThing #1] Bat-Thing #1 - "Someone To Watch Over Me":
Bullock Bullock investigates a homicide. The uniforms had it tagged as a mob-related hit, but Montoya knew it was Bat-Thing when she saw the wounds. The victim is Huggy Maddox who used to hang out with Fat Freddy Fanelli until Bullock sent Fanelli upstate for 10-20 years. Bullock had to shoot Fanelli during that bust - a load of 12-gauge buck into the face. Montoya
Just then, Bat-Thing flies off a building, leaving the scene. Bullock leaves to inform Francie Ellen Sallis that her husband, Kirk (aka Bat-Thing) is back, which leaves Montoya to type up the report. As he leaves for 53 Bridwell Street, Fanelli tails him, and Bat-Thing tails Fanelli.
A knock on the door wakes Francie. It's Kirk, but as a human, not Bat-Thing. Kirk admits he was a fool to use himself as a gunea pig. The doctors said his illness was terminal. Kirk thought he could pull off a gene splice that would save his life. Then, before Francie's eyes, Kirk transforms into Bat-Thing.
Francie wakes up, screaming - waking up her daughter, Kelly, as well. Kelly wants to know when her dad is coming home. Bullock arrives to tell Francie that Bat-Thing returned to the city, and trying to remind her that Bat-Thing is no longer her husband but a monster. Yet Francie believes Kirk, in either form, is incapable of harming herself or Kelly. Bullock reminds her that his dad loved his mom, but it didn't stop him from beating her. It's the reason he became a cop.
Meanwhile, Fanelli contacts Scruggs, giving him Francie's address.
Elsewhere, Montoya gets a call from Sosumi at the ME's office. He was doing the prep before the autopsy on Hugsworth A. Maddox and discovered a photo of Francie and Kelly taped to the small of his back. When she sees an APB disclosing the escape of Fanelli, she radios Bullock - but he left the radio in his car. Before he can answer, though, Scruggs and a friend open fire on Bullock.
While he's occupied, two other thugs break into Francie's apartment. Outside, Bullock sees Bat-Thing crashing into Francie's apartment window, and think he's after Francie and Kelly. The thugs in the apartment shoot Bat-Thing at pointblank, but it does no harm. The thugs are killed.
Montoya tries to tell Bullock Fanelli and Bat-Thing's involvement in the case, but he races off to save Francie. He arrives in time to see the last thug thrown out of the apartment. When Bat-Thing appears to lunge at Bullock, he open fires. Yet Bat-Thing soars over Bullock, attacking Fanelli who was sneaking up the rear. Then he flies off.
Montoya finally explains to Bullock why Bat-Thing behaved the way he did. Fanelli escaped 6 weeks ago from State Pen, and suspected in 3 bank robberies - which is how he funded his vendetta against Bullock. Bullock, however, didn't recognize Fanelli because Fanelli needed a new face after Bullock had shot him in the face with a shot gun a while ago. Because Bullock frequented Francie's apartment, Fanelli thought she was something special to the cop and put a hit on her. Bullock put Francie in danger, and Kirk/Bat-Thing still forgave him.

Story continued from SuperSoldier #1 and Tales of War #99.

Fury yells at Wayne for conducting a full assault, but Wayne doesn't listen - which infuriates Fury. He hates that Wayne is taking it so personal; can't do that in the spy game. Sergeant Rock has no suggestions but to cover Wayne's back.

[Stark] [Huntress] [Moonwing]

Tony Stark is giving Wayne last minute instrucions on his rocket pack - whih he knows as well as his support chair. Both wish Tony Stark was going, but Stark Labs is working on sonething to do just that. And, with a good luck kiss from Barbara, Wayne and his squad are off.
Despite a beating by SHIELD, Hydra still manages to get some anti-aircraft into the air. Yet SHIELD defenses are impenetrable. Meanwhile, as Selina Luthor (now called "Hydra Supreme") learns, The Green Skull had activated the PlanetSmasher program, which operates the Terra Cannon.
Above Hydra Base Omega, Moonwing takes his squad to attack the aircraft guns. Huntress and Wayne's squad keep the skipjets away from the Hellicarrier. One skipjet makes it through the defenses. Wayne decimates it, but the explosion knocks him out.
Moonwing is too busy to save him, but Wayne is wearing a homer transmitter - he can zero on on it later. Unfortunately, Deathlok attacks, and it is a grudge fight.
The Terra Cannon is aimed down a shaft drilled miles into the earth and cannot be deactivated - its nuclear charge will build until it reaches critical mass, then it'll fire directly into a fault in the continental shelf, dropping the entire east coast of the US into the ocean.

[Deathlok] [Nuke]

Nuke attacks Wayne as Deathlok is shot down by Fury in a jet. (Moonwing decides not to tell Wayne about Deathlok's identity.)
Nuke belittles Green Skull for not having the strength or courage to face Wayne himself. He believes Wayne to be an easy kill - like Wayne's parents. Wayne attacks, however, causing a system overload with his Venom, his heart exploding. This near-death experience causes Wayne to rethink his life with Barbara - but he is interupted by news of the PlanetSmasher.
Storming the base, Wayne is angered that the Terra Cannon can't be stopped. Outside, Sergeant Rock and Fury circle the base in a jet as it explodes.
Meanwhile, the Green Skull flies off, very much alive, and heads for Metropolis.

June Masters consults Computo about their chances. It reports that "Galactiac will fail when a Challenger dies." She asks to join them, reminding Ben she is an honorary Challenger. Ben told her she was because of what happened with Diablo, the Volcanic Man, as though it would make her love the man who caused her to go blind. She is, however, allowed to go.
When they arrive at the Baxter Building, Doc Octopus and his staff are unconscious (SpiderBoy Teamup #1). When the Silver Racer appears, they blame him for what happened, but he did not harm them. He is only there to await the death of a Challenger.
Reed tries to reason with Galactiac, asking him to find an uninhabited world to replenish his energy cells rather than destroy Earth. Galactiac tells him he is misinformed. He doesn't completely destroy a world - he keeps a miniaturized section of it to study. He has chosen New York City.
Meanwhile, Uatu prepares Johnny for his part in the battle as June Masters tries to convince the Silver Racer to help them in the battle.
Ben tries to sabatoge Galactiac's machines, but Galactiac transforms him into a mindless four-armed Thing. He chases Reed and Sue.

The lights go out. When he can't raise Sparrow on the comm, he realizes something is wrong. Then Talia attacks. He is surprised by her new appearance. She reveals how easy it was to break in to his cave: his defense systems and code words all follow his private obsession so closely. [Dark Claw]
Logan doesn't want to hurt Talia, explaining he had no choice but to kill Ra's A-Pocalypse. Ra's A-Pocalypse virus would have slaughtered all the mutants on earth - including Talia. Ra's A-Pocalypse was willing to sacrifice his daughter for his dream. Talia doesn't believe Logan.

According to her dossier, Logan was an orphan, raised in an institution in Edmonton, Alberta. So, she is confused to see pictures of Logan with his parents, standing in front of a Luxury apartment in Gotham. She also sees pictures of Logan in the RCAF in Southeast Asia with Creed H. Quinn - which means he knew Creed before "the Project". Then she stumbles into his closet and finds Dark Claw costumes.
Just then, however, Dark Claw emerges from a secret passage/elevator behind the closet wall. He identifies her as the Huntress and as Carol Danvers, and is aware of her background. She admits she knows little else about Logan beyong her dossier - his ultra-secret file in the top-secret archives turned out to be an elaborate fiction. She only ran into Logan because she was after the Hyena. Logan's tracks often cross the Hyena's.
In the Barrow, Logan informs Huntress more about his childhood, and how he met Creed: he was in the same outfit when Logan joined the RCAF Security. He also tells her he was the Project's failure because he had a conscious. [Sparrow]

(Reedis eventually cured by June Masters in Challengers of the Fantastic #1)

Sue Storm interupts them; King Lizard broke out when Bizarnage shorted the powergrid, disappearing into the underground river. He was heading toward New York. Sue gives SpiderBoy 2 hours before she calls Bruce Wayne at SHIELD for help.
En route, SpiderBoy encounters Dr Palmer, who asks if SpiderBoy studied his white dwarf star device. SpiderBoy actually got shrunk by it, to subatomic size (in which he saved Statterstarfire in Outrageous Spiderboy #305)

When SpiderBoy gets to the Fantasti-wagon, Doc Octopus already has everything prepared; his anima-tentacles reduced the time to 2.17 minutes. He also points out the Daily Bugle's latest headlines, "Insect Queen has SpiderBoy's Love Child," remarking it was nearly as bad as "Sparks Fly Between SpiderBoy and Amazon" (which resulted in a month-long thunderstorm over the Dialy Bugle). He also reminds SpiderBoy about the blind date with Doc Ock's friend. SpiderBoy agrees only because Doc's always been there for him, since his 'Uncle Gen' (General Thunderbolt Ross) was killed by a burglar.
Arriving at the Daily Bugle, he uses Professor Yatz's matter-transporter to become Pete Ross. He immediately encounters Tana Moon, who wants Pete to get pictures of a secret government base just outside the city. Pete is secretly reluctant to do this, for the base hosts Project: Cadmus. Jameson introduces the next day's headline, "SpiderBoy Secretly Weds Insect Queen." However, Ryder (aka Nightcreeper) interupts them with news that King Lizard is destroying Pier 69.
SpiderBoy engages the beast, who has grown. SCU joins the fight, but prove useless. SpiderBoy internenes, saving them. Flash Thompson believes SpiderBoy and King Lizard are working together.

He heads back to the Baxter Building to get Doc Palmer's white dwark prototype, but it is damaged by King Lizard. With the containment field about to give out, SpiderBoy grabs it and heads for the roof. He uses the Webslinger to hurl the white dwarf into Lizard's mouth, which causes him to shrink to sub-atomic size.

During supper, a sergeant and a few of his men try bullying Kent around, but Sergeant Rock and the Howling Commandos interfere, and unwittingly save the secret of Kent's invulnerability.
Some nights later, Kent and Olsen spot a Frenchman wandering into a restricted area. Jimmy reveals their presence before the Frenchman does anything incriminating. Then the alarm sounds - they are heading straight for rogue icebergs that broke off an icelandic glacier. SuperSoldier clears a path.
The next evening, they arrive in England. Sergeant Rock and the Howlers depart, and SuperSoldier leaves to meet with the Prime Minister. Amongst the guests are Lex Luthor.
SuperSoldier is called back by Olsen, however, because Olsen was jumped from behind by the Frenchman when investigating a suspicious fishing crew. Kent finds this crew: they are disguised Nazis. The Nazi's keep SuperSoldier busy, however, by shooting several torpedoes into the docks to cover their escape. By the tie Supersoldier had caught and disabled the torpedoes, they had indeed escaped. Finished, he returns to the Prie Minister in low spirits.
The next day in the heart of Nazi Europe, Sergeant Rock and the Howlers are prisoners being driven to Zemo Castle. As they are escorted to the dungeon, they notice the Frenchman at Zemo's side. Yet, hours later, the Frenchman visits them in the dungeon - and reveals herself as an ally, Madamoisele Peggy. She takes them to a secret passage where weapons are stored.
Elsewhere, Zemo is toasting with Luthor on their success when he learns of the Howlers' escape. He orders the War Wheel to be unleashed. Peggy is he first casualty, but manages to get to the radio room to contact London, sending in SuperSoldier.
SuperSoldier destroys the War Wheel. Before SuperSoldier flies her off to a hospital, she explains she jumped Olsen to keep him out of harm's way and produces blueprints to Zemo's latest weapon.
Sergeant Rock and the Howlers race to get to the stolen cargo, but are too late - Luthor and Zemo escape. Luthor is not upset at the recent events, though. Inside the submarine with him and Zemo is kryptonite, which will become the heart of his new robot, Ultra-Metallo.

[Thorion of the New Asgods #1] Thorion of the New Asgods #1:

Ragnarok. Demons seiged New Asgard, and head for the Odin chamber. But Odin is prepared: he summons Thorion. Thorion battles demons of Thanoseid, driving them back. Everyday, Thanoseid's Steppenwolf legions strike deeper into neutral territory. Thanosied's hunger for slave labor increases. He frees "bugs" from cocoons, but they give no thanks - there is little in existence more wretched than the lot of those born bugs.

Thanosied rages at Thorion's victory. He then question's L'ol D'saad's loyalty. Though he would give his lofe for Thanosied, he requires the Power Cube. None, not even Thanoseid, can weild the full power of the Cube without the power consuming them. He allows L'ok to use it, warning him not to disappoint his Lady Death.
Thorion returns to New Asgard, where news of his successful bout with the demons already has reached. He and Bald'r are summoned by Odin Highfather to tell them about Armageddon. The Promethean Giants (Ymir of the Frozen Wastes, Surtur Lord of all things infernal, Kalibak the thrice damned, Mangog aka DarkHarbinger). They are the architects of the End Day, bound to the living rock of the Ego-Mass. Held in status by the power of the Source.
L'ok stands on the Ego=Mass, summoning Thorion. He is angered that his father bartered L'ok to Thanoseid in return for the hammer of the old gods, with which to resurrect Orion (in Secret Crisis). Thorion's perspective differs - the bargain was made as a truce between Apokalypso and the New Asgard.
L'ok will not hear it. He begins to awake the giants. Thorion tries to stop him by absorbing the energy into himself and his hammer. An explosion occurred, and the Ego-Mass, the Giants, and the two brothers disintegrate.
For his sacrifice, some honored him, cursed it, mourned, while others made it the studd of legends.
The end results of the explosion: Thorion was transformed into living energy, becoming Thorion the Celestial.

[X-Patrol #1] X-Patrol #1 - "Doomed!":
The X-Building, rumored to have been built for a world's fair long ago, was left aabandoned until it was recently bought by someone with enough money to keep the deal quiet. It is into this building Elasti-Girl enters. She is late - already gathered are Ferro-Man, Shatterstarfire, Beastling, and Dial HUSK. However, tensions are high and a fight almost ensues, until the man who called the meeting interferes.

He addresses Shatterstarfire first, revealing what he knows about her origins from the sub-atomic world of Tamajoran. She longs to return home, but fears he has no home to return to. He addresses Beastling next, revealing his origins as well.
Paige Guthrie tries to sneak out, and so he addresses her next, revealing her origins. Yet this mystery man wonders if Paige, wothout a husk, is showing her true self or just keeping it hidden beneath layers of costumes and characters.

This upsets Paige. As Elasti-Girl comforts her, Ferroman attempts to defend Paige, only to gain this man's attention, who promptly reveals Ferroman's origin. [Niles Cable]
He lastly talks about Elasti-Girl and her origins. It was she who helped agree to help the mystery man with his plans. Ferro Man demands to know his identity, and is obliged: he is Niles Cable, a mutant from a future where mutants banded together against destruction from a mutant-hating world. He explains that though seperately they are outcasts, together under his command they could be heroes of destiny.
After Shatterstarfire and Paige agree to join, Beastling joins also. Ferro Man joins, but refuses to state his reasons. Beastling wants to know more about the "legendary heroes of the future stuff", but Niles only knows the high points of their careers, including the fact that they'll all die glorious deaths. [Dr Doomsday]
Shatterstarfire doubts there is anything in this world that could kill her, until Niles mentions they'll be facing Dr Doomsday. Just when they near his island-nation's airspace, missles destroy their X-Jet. [Polaris]
Paige turns into Polaris and joins her teammates in keeping Dr Doomsday occupied while Nules and Janet learn of the villain's plan: he's gathering an army to conquer the world; an army of splintered versions of their own selves (ie, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Wolverine) [Mary Marvel Girl]
Niles can't crack the computer codes, but Janet shrinks and gets inside the machine as Dr Dr Doomsday attacks Niles, damaging his back. Shatterstarfire keeps Dr Domsday at bay long enough for Paige to transform into Mary Marvel Girl in order to levetate Niles out to safety. They all flee behind her as Dr Doomsday swears vengeance.
On their way to Corto Maltese, Niles reveals the extent of his injuries - he cannot feel his legs.

[X-Patrol, The Exciting #1] X-Patrol, The Exciting #1 - "The Curse of Brother Brood":
Occurs one year after X-Patrol #1.

[Niles Cable] [Terra-X] [Brood] [Brother Brood]

Beneath the island nation of Zenosha, the home to the Cult of Brood, Shatterstarfire and Niles Cable battle Brood. Shatterstarfire had witnesses Terra-X captured and changed into rocks and dust - but she was wrong. It was only Terra-X's mutant power. Shatterstarfire rushed in, then, to save someone who wasn't in danger. Rather than risk them both being captured, Cable hurls Shatterstarfire away with his telekenesis. The Brood overwhelm Cable, and Brother Brood laughs. [Elasti-Girl] [Jericho]
At HQ, X-Patrol berates Shatterstarfire for leaving Niles behind - yet she had no choice. Elasti-Girl intends to form a rescue mission, but her teammates distrust their new member, Jericho. They trusted Elasti-Girl's word on previous members, Hawk and Dagger, and that had tragic results. But the situation wins out, and they depart in the X-Jet. En route, Jericho reveals what he knows about the Brood: if the Brood controls mutants, ann the world would suffer. [Raveniya]
Meanwhile, Raveniya the Healer visits Cable to heal some of his wounds, but from where she is, she cannot heal them all. She reminds him of what the future he came from - in the place where the Ashkani keep alive the essence of lost heroes cut down in their prime before he could teach them, people who helped shape the world he knew. Raveniya herself are amongst these heroes, before she became Trijenskot the warrior and died in Cable's arms.
Raveniya reminds Cable that he has a piece of her self-soul. Yet if he releases it to heal himself, he also looses his grip on the techni-virus infecting him. [Artemisty]
The Brood make a surprise attack on X-Patrol. Paige turns into Artemisty Knight to join the battle, leaving Ferro Man amazed at the personality change that accompanied it. They reach Brother Brood in the Pit, but Terra-X the Destroyer rises, already implanted with a Brood. The team recognize her as the one who delivered X-Patrol into the hands of X-Stroke the Eliminator (he nearly wiped them out). As the team fights, Janet shrinks in size and enters Terra-X's ear, causing inner ear damage that knocks Terra-X out.
Artemisty fires an arrow at Brood, but hits nothing but his cape. Yet Brood reappears, with Niles. Though Niles is reluctant to attack, he has no choice. Despite being hurled back by Niles' telekenetics, Jericho insists they keep trying. Jericho knows that if Brother Brood suceeds, he will use Niles to spearhead the takeover of Earth by the Brood. Then, the Brood will be overthrown by humans who will never hunt forgive mutantkind, forcing them to live in caves and hunted like beasts.
Brother Brood interupts Jericho by transforming into the Brood queen. X-Patrol attacks anew, but Niles knocks them away again. Only Jericho remains. Jericho won't let his own future come to pass. Niles is confused - Jericho's power is as strong as his. After knocking away Jericho's "disguise" does Niles find out why: Jericho is a younger version of himself, whose name is Niles Dayspring. [Niles Dayspring] [Niles Cable]
Cable decides that with the younger version of himself to take his place, he can feel free to sacrifice himself. He releases his soul-self to heal Brother Brood. Yet, without it, he falls victim to the techno-virus. Dayspring can telekinetically hold back the virus, but fears taking out he implant. Raveniya appears again, healing him of the implant, then vanishes. Revived, Cable revives his quest to make the future a better place.
