| Late one night Mac lay stretched out on her bed, crying on the inside. It had only been last night that she'd seen Billy with Brittany. And now she knew the truth. All boys were after one thing! "How could you do this to me Billy" Mac wondered to herself? "I really thought you cared about me, but I guess I was wrong!" Mac got up off her bed and walked across her bedroom to her dresser and pulled open the small drawer of her cherry wood jewelry box. She reached inside and picked up the opal ring Billy had given her. As she walked back to her bed she slipped it on to her finger and then sat down, tucking her legs underneath her. As she gazed at the ring many emotions flowed through her, as well as many memories. Just then the phone rang next to her bed and she reluctantly answered it. "Hello" she said. "Mac it's me, please talk to me" Billy pleaded. "I told you Billy, I don't want to talk to you" she replied with tears in her eyes. "Goodbye!" Before he could say another word Mac hung up the phone and buried her head in a pillow while she sobbed. "Dammit Mac, why won't you talk to me" cried Billy. "What did I do?" He walked over to his bed and flopped down. He held his head in his hands and then heard the phone ring from his desk. He slowly got up and answered, "Hello?" "Hey Billy" said Brittany. "Oh hey Brit" he replied. "What can I do for you?" "Oh nothing special, do I have to have a reason to call?" "No, no of course not" he replied. "So where were you off too so early this morning?" "To the coffee house with Rianna" she replied. "Did you catch up on your rest?" "No I'm still beat" he replied. "Is something wrong Billy, you sound sad, she said. "No nothings wrong, I'm just tired" he replied. "Are you sure" she asked with fake concern. "Yeah, I'm sure" he replied. "Well then I'll let you get some rest" she replied with a satisfied smile. "Sleep well!" "You too" he said before he hung up the phone. "To bad I won't sleep at all" he said aloud. "I just have to find away to get Mac to open up to me!" He got off the bed and slipped off his shirt. Then he climbed back into bed after he turned on the bedside lamp and turned off the bedroom light. And as he drifted into a restless sleep he thought of the perfect way to get Mac to talk. The next morning Mac awoke early and rolled out of bed. Now that the Jabot job was done she had to return to her job at the coffeehouse. She still didn't need the money, but she liked the distraction it gave, and right now she could use all the distraction she could get. Today she was working a full shift and if she could she'd offer to work over time. She dressed quickly in a pair of jeans and a red tank top. Then she slipped on a pair of black sandals and headed out the door. As she walked down the stairs she pulled her hair back with her hands into a ponytail and then hurried to catch the bus into town. When she arrived, the coffeehouse was already buzzing with life. As she glanced around she spotted Billy sitting in the corner with a frown. She removed her gaze and headed behind the counter. "Hey Cody" she said putting on a fake smile. "Hey Mac, glad to be back" he asked. "You bet" she replied! She tied on her apron and then headed out to take orders. The morning pasted quickly and soon it was time for her break. "Go on Mac, you deserve it" pushed Cody. But I dont need a break she whined! In all truth she did, she was exhausted and it was only noon. But she didnt want to be available to Billy, who was still sitting in the corner watching her every mood. Go on Mac, said Cody. Fine she mumbled and then she wandered out the front door to the parking lot to avoid Billy. It didnt work though because he immediately followed her. Mac heard him come through the door and she turned to face him, fire in her eyes! "Mac" Billy whispered. "Will you please talk to me?" "Get away from Billy" she screamed. "Just leave me alone!" "I can't do that Mac and you know it" he said as he reached out to touch her. "I said stay away" she hissed pushing his hand away. "Mac I don't understand! Why are you being like this," he asked looking at her with questions in his eyes. "What have I done?" "I can't believe you're still playing dumb" she replied turning away from him. "Mac, you're not making any sense, he said coming up behind her. "Billy just go" she said tears filling her eyes. "I can't do that Mac, he said again. "I won't stop until we've talked this out!" Mac just stood there and tried to hold on to control. "To tell you the truth I was going to lock us in the storeroom until you talked to me, but now I can see that's not the way to go about it" he said placing a hand on her shoulder. She jumped at his touch as if he had scalded her with hot water. Finally she turned to face him. "Billy please just leave me alone" she pleaded. "I can't" was a he said. Mac looked at him again with sad eyes and then walked back into the coffeehouse leaving Billy standing there in confusion. When Mac walked back into the coffeehouse she noticed Raul and Rianna had entered through the back. She placed a smile on her face and went to take their order. "Hey you two" she smiled. "Hey Mac" grinned Raul. "Hey" said Rianna a little annoyed. "Why does she still have such an affect on him" she wondered to herself. "There has to be a way to show him there's more to life than Mac!" Raul ordered a coffee and Rianna ordered a strawberry smoothie. When Mac left Rianna said, "I'm so glad you called!" "Yeah, I thought that after you broke up with JT that you might need a little fun" he said smiling at her. "You're so sweet, she said. Just then Billy walked back inside and spotted them. "Hey guys" said Billy. "Hey man! What's up" asked Raul? "Nothin much" replied Billy as he sat down with them. "Have you talked to Brittany today" asked Rianna. "Not today, but last night I did" replied Billy. "You made her so happy" smiled Rianna. "Yeah Rianna and I are both glad to see things are back on track" smiled Raul. "What do you mean," asked Billy! "Oh you know" smiled Rianna shyly. "Yeah, but we don't want the details" laughed Raul. Billy looked at them in confusion and then felt Mac approach. "Here you two go, she said placing the drinks on the table. "Thanks" smiled Raul. "Any time" she replied before she walked away. Billy's gaze followed her around the room and so did Raul's. After awhile Rianna became angry and excused herself to the ladies room. "What was that about" asked Billy? "I'm not sure" replied Raul with a frown. "I think I'll leave you two alone" said Billy as he stood. "Are you sure" asked Raul. "Yeah threes a crowd and I've got something to do" replied Billy. "Okay, later man" smiled Raul. "See you around" called Billy as he walked out onto the patio. He stood there a moment and watched Rianna return to the table with a bright smile and when no one was looking he slipped back in and hurried towards the storeroom. Raul and Rianna sat there for another half an hour and the whole time Raul didn't take his eyes off of Mac. Rianna tried her best to catch his attention, but failed terribly. Suddenly she knew what she had to do! She had to get Mac out of Raul's line of sight for a while! And she knew that as long as Mac was around that they'd never leave. She watched Mac talk to Cody and heard him ask her to check for something in the storeroom. "Perfect" she thought! She watched Mac disappear down the hallway towards the storeroom and then said, "Raul I'm going to head to the ladies room again and then maybe we can go back to my place!" "Ah sure" he replied, watching for Mac to reappear. Rianna stood and walked down the same hallway towards the restroom. When she reached the door labeled storeroom she removed a hairpin from her hair and shoved it in the keyhole. She smiled to herself and then headed back to her table. "Ready" she asked? "Yeah, but I wanted to say bye to Mac replied Raul! "Do you know where she is?" "I think she went to run an errand for Cody' replied Rianna. "Well okay" he replied. "Let's go!" As they walked towards the door Rianna noticed someone insert several quarters into the jukebox. "Great" she thought! Mac walked into the storeroom and fumbled for the light and when she found it flickered for a moment and then glowed brightly. "I've got to get Cody to fix that, she said aloud. Suddenly she heard the doorknob click. "What was that" she asked herself. She reached to open the knob, but it wouldn't turn. "What the..." she cried. "It's stuck!" Suddenly she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and she spun around to look into the loving eyes of Billy! "What are you doing in here," she asked? "Waiting for you" he replied. "You did this, she cried. "Did what" he asked sounding confused? "The doors stuck and I have a feeling you know why" she accused! "Stuck? What do you mean stuck," he asked as he reached forward to test the knob. "Don't play stupid, she cried. "You're the one who said you were going to lock us in the storeroom!" "No I didn't do this" he replied as he tried the knob again. "Then what were you doing in here," she asked? "Waiting for you, he said. "I knew Cody would eventually send you back here, so I waited!" "And why should I believe you" she asked? "Because" he said. "I'm telling the truth! Isn't that enough?" "Was it" she wondered to herself as she stared into his sad emotional eyes! Billy looked at for a long time and waited for her to answer! Finally she said, I think for some stranger reason I believe you! Great he said. Thats a start. Now please tell me whats wrong! No she cried, turning away from him. But Mac, how can I fix this if you wont talk to me he asked? What if I dont want you to fix it, she asked him? Did you ever think of that? Tears filled her eyes and Billy walked up behind her. Mac he whispered. Sobs shook her body and Billy wrapped his arms around her. No she cried, but she didnt pull away. Just tell me whats wrong he said. She turned to face him and looked him in the eyes. Fine, you really want to know she said. Yes tell me he replied. She took a deep breath and finally spoke, I saw you with Brittany in the pool house the night of the live feed! I dont understand, he said! You saw us doing what? I saw you and Brittany having sex, she cried. Billy just stood there in silence staring at her in shock. "What" he cried finally. "Where did you get that?" "I saw you Billy, she cried. "I walked in on you two that night! I saw it with my own two eyes!" "It's impossible, he said. "I've never slept with Brittany and I think I'd remember an experience like that!" The look on his face and in his eyes said it all. Mac knew he was telling the truth, her heart couldn't deny the love in his eyes! "Do you promise" she asked tears in her eyes? "Of course Mac, you're the only one I want, he said. "The only one I've ever wanted!" "Oh Billy" she cried as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Billy sighed and pressed his lips against hers. Suddenly Mac pulled away and asked, "But what about what I saw?" "I don't know, but believe me, we'll find out" he replied. Mac kissed him again and then they heard the doorknob rattle. Finally it opened and Cody looked at them in surprise! "What are you two doing in here and why is there a hairpin in the lock. "Somebody locked us in" explained Mac. "I was beginning to worry, but I can see you were in good hands" he said with a sly smile. Mac blushed and followed Billy back to the bar where he sat there waiting for her to finish her shift. When she was done they had some catching up to do! THE END |
