Rumors say, these were names, the guys were considering before they decided on LP:
'Clear' - which was their favorite.
'Probing Lagers' - which they thought was the lamest.
'Platinum Lotus Foundation'
'Ten PM Stocker'
How the songs used to be called (in working progress etc.):
'In the end'/'Untitled'
'Somewhere I Belong'/'Shifter'
'One Step Closer'/'Plaster'
Cure for the Itch'/'Mr. Hahn'
'Esaul' is an earlier version of 'A Place for my Head' ('Esaul' is a friend's name, that the guys from LP used to hang out with.)
'Super Xero'/'By Myself'
Other facts about the songs:
'My December' was recorded in a studio in Nashville.
'One Step Closer' was written after LP had spent about 2 weeks trying to write 'Runaway' and it wasn't working so they wrote a song about how frustrated they were.
'The Morning After' was revealed at The Brixton Academy, London UK (June 4, 2001) show where Chester performed a solo acoustic rendition of the new track. It's "a song about sleeping in your car". -Chester
The demo version of 'Points of Authority' was NOT called 'Vertical Limit'- there is confusion over this because the album version of the song was in the movie Vertical Limit.
The first time 'My December' was performed live was at the KROQ Almost Acoustic X-Mas.
Facts about LP's religion:
LP is not a Christian band. Many people assumed that Linkin Park were a Christian band for two reasons: the fact that they didn't curse on their 'Hybrid Theory' album and that they toured with P.O.D. (who are a Christian band).
Brad and Rob are Jewish.
Chester has his own "really unique views" on religion in general (which means he prob doesn't belong to any particular religion).
Mike was raised in "a really, really liberally Protestant church".
Joe was raised "in [a] little more conservative Christian church".
About their Hair colors:
During OSC, Mike's hair was bright red, bleached with "Ruby Red" and occasionally Fudge 'Rock Star Red'
After he had blue hair, which annoyed him to much, so he decided to combine red and blue.
Chester's hair has been bleach blonde, black/brown, red, pink, purple, and probably other colors too. His hair styles have changed a lot too. He has had curly/spikey hair, 2 devil horns, a mohawk and he's even been bald.
About touring:
LP did a total of 324 gigs during 2001
LP's first tour was the hardest because they had a tour manager and were on an RV, with no crew. The band had to load everything and take turns driving. Their RV broke down a couple of times as well.
When LP toured with Papa Roach in December, they called them "the broken home boys" and Papa Roach called LP "Linkin Park rangers"
Other facts:
LP were a little worried about working with Don Gilmor on their first record, 'cause they were looking for a heavier sound but they like the outcome anyway.
Mike and Brad went to Agora High School with Hoobastank's Doug Robb and Dan Estrin.
Scott Kozeil played bass for Linkin Park on their first few tours before Phoenix returned and he appears in the One Step Closer video.
Kyle Christner played bass on the Hybrid Theory EP and on Hybrid Theory.
The band was completely horrified by the 9/11 disaster and donated $75,000 to the American Red Cross. They also made their record label (Warner Bros.) match it.
