The
Thames Coromandel District Council, despite numerous requests to cease
and desist spraying an eco - toxic weed killer, continued to do so, on
a habitat of Mokomoko Skink (oligosoma moco). Under the Wildlife Act
these skink are considered absolutely Protected!for more info

In
October 2008 I took the marina developers to the Environment Court. I
had Dr Keith Corbett giving expert witness testimony in support as
well as that from Ngati Whaunaunga. The Principal Environment Court
Judge, John Bollard took the case, Mr Bollard had overseen the changes
to the regional district plan (marina variations) and the marina
consents, which the Rt Hon Chris Carter attempted to Veto.
Needless
to say I lost my case, Judge Bollard worked very hard to sew up is
judgement in favour of the developers. Now in New Zealand you do not
need a consent to destroy an absolutely protected species habitat, or
even a wildlife permit. Especially if you are an influential developer
like the "non for profit" incorporated Whangamata Marina Society.
Over the
last year several internal and external fraud investigations have been
carried out into this corrupt council, TCDC. the latest involving the
Mayor by the Auditor Generals Office resulted in The AOG deciding not
pursue the case. one reason given in the press was that the penalty if
found guilty would be to punitive. Of course this case was taken in
isolation without considering the wider corrosive atmosphere that
exists in that council, in particular with regard to the marina
development. The newly
updated timeline itemizes some of those fraud inquiries.
what can you do?
1. Lobby the
Minister of Local Government
for an Inquiry into the corrosive nature of this council, in
particular, with regard to it's dealings with the marina developers.

The One that Property
Speculators, ( under the guise of a secret club otherwise
known as the Whangamata Marina Society)
would rather that you did not hear. Over
coming weeks, other files will be added to this site, so that you can
judge for yourself what power, ignorance, greed and manipulation of local
bodies can do at the expense of the environment.
These signs (in close proximity to the proposed
marina site) were removed around 2001, yet people are still exposed
to the toxic soup from the leaking waste water pond. Why?

highlights the Sewerage pond which leaks up to 30,000 litres of the raw
