Fatdick's Rants, con't:

The following are Rants in general, and may or may not pertain to actual RP.

Elitists
You people bore me Who likes em? No one really. You'd have to be one yourself to respect another. Elitists are on the same level as a n00b. They annoy people. Elitists think they are better then everyone else, because their characer is either a god, has killed a god, or is the leader of some clan. Or because they can type a 35 para post. It's funny. RP is nothing but a fictitious world brought to life through text. The only skill you demonstrate is your writing skills. So, I can't recall anyone saying Stephen King is an "elite" writer. These bastards will criticize and judge your intros and posts, and you how to make them better and be more like them. I criticize people's posts too, but I'm not elitist. I actually offer advice. And I burn people for being cliche. It helps them become more creative. These guys just pick on people to further sublimate their weak self esteems and insecurities. I don't need to put someone else down or have an elite's acceptance to validate my confidence as a role player and writer. Elitists think they're cool, because they'll attack role players, newbs, OOCers, and everyone. They actually think their opinion has any weight, and if you ever notice they're constantly asking someone else in the room(most likely another Elite) if he/she is right. No one likes an Elitist. Call me an Elitist all you want. You're just pissed cuz I made fun of your shitty pretyped intro.

Master Debators
Take a second to look up the word "asinine". *Waits*

Ok done? Good. These assholes think they are superior. Their opinion is supposed priority. Their word is law. They are the fucks whom if you point out something about them, be it a flaw, typo, or an inconsistency in their post/comment, they'll attack you. Hell, sometimes they'll just outright go after you. You can't argue with them. You just can't. You won't win. It's pointless. These people come in caliburs. The n00b, who goes:

"You can't kill me I'm already dead! lolz ur wrong. Na uh. Still wrong. stfu u nub"

You have the basic ones, who go:

"Not really. It was T2, I simply posted before he did. Doesn't matter. Well, I was ooc anyway, so he never hit me. In fact, you only hit a reflection of him. The real him is far away. Hahahah, you fail. *Hits with iggy stick*"

Then, you have the worst of the bunch. The ones who have a theasarus crammed up their ass so they can use words on you no one's heard of to sound smart and hide the fact they're a moron, and use "logic" that no one sees but them to prove you wrong:

"Well, if you want to be technical about it, I never said "you" sucked. Only your post. Ergo, I made no ill mannered remark in your direction, merely offering constructive advice. I said 'That post would be alot better, you repeat yourself alot'. So you may percieve that as meaning 'you suck'if you want. Even if I meant it that way, I was speaking about the post, not you. So, your entire argument is void as I'm the target of your misguided angst. Gee, you really don't have a life do you, getting so upset over the net? Oh well, maybe one day you'll see things the right way"

The kind of fuck you just wanna find out where they live, walk up on them and just stomp the flying bejebus out of. I've seen people own these assholes, and watch as they still try to fight back hiding behind chunky and odd words and warped sense of logic. Hell, I've been the victim of these sort of people before. I'm sure you have too. No one likes them. If you are one of these people, go to hell ok? Take your own advice, it's just a damn chat room. So stop acting like a badass and trying to impress people. You're not cool ok? No one but you thinks that. Leave people be and remember, you're prolly on the net as long if not longer then the people you taunt.

Well, that's enough for now. Can't think of anything else, but as soon as I do, I'll post. Don't want to read a weak watered down rant, now do ya? Below is a nifty lil glossary I compiled.

Chat Room Glossary
Just a lil listing of words and what they mean. For the e-ignorant or those who havn't caught on to recent fads. Got something for old and new alike:

newb:(new' b) Classic term. Basic insult. A newb is someone who is "new" to something, hence the term newb. Short version of "newbie".They usually lack skill and experiance, but, are willing to learn and listen to others, and improve. Being a newb should not be seen as an insult, and being called one shouldn't either. Often vets will take a newb under their wing and guide them in the proper way of whatever it is they are doing. In this case RP. The best way to deal with ignorance is education, not ridicule. Threat - None.

n00b:(new_b) Standard insult. This term is designed to be an insult, as it labels an offensive stereo type. A n00b is someone who is asinine, incomponent, argues all the time despite being proven wrong constantly, refuses to admit to being wrong, uses cheap tactics/methods(In this case of RP, playing a God character and auto'ing you), and just in general gets on everyone's nerves. A skilled RPer can still be a n00b. However, most n00bs tend to not be very talented, they just think they are. Sometimes you can prove a n00b wrong, and if they admit it, they're one step closer to no longer being a n00b. In general, they honestly don't think they're that bad. So, it's best to politely ignore them. N00b is usually the first insult someone tosses at you. It's over used, and basic, and people resort to n00b when they can't find any other insult to suit you. Standard fall back insult. Don't take offense to being called one if you're not one. Let it go. Threat - High.

f00b(ar):(fuu'b'/ar) Advanced new age insult. It began as f00b(fucking n00b) and expanded to f00bar to add to the insult. A f00bar is a truly filthy thing. So horrible being called a n00b doesn't do them justice. F00bars are truly among the worst of the worst. This is not your common insult, you don't just toss this around. You reserve this for those who deserve it. If you abuse the insult, you'll make an ass of yourself. That's just how powerful this term is. F00bar's usually are also a combination of other things, such as Master Debators, Elitists, and Trolls. Threat - Extremely High.

troll:(trOl) Standard insult. Trolls are people who act stupid on purpose to annoy other people. They usually say or do really moronic things to intentionally illect an agitated response. Trolls tend to be witty and clever, and can come off as a genuine newb/n00b. Once a Troll has pissed you off, and you go off the handle at them, they preceed to sit back and laugh their asses off, since they've succeeded in getting you going. They take pleasure is seeing how easy it is to set someone off. Alot of the time they display a mastery of sarcasm. I am a such Troll. Though, my Trolling usually is funny, not so much as "omg um ust die". Being a Troll can be an extremely rewarding past time. It shows you how shallow people are. However, when you're on the recieving end of a Troll, exercise caution. Make sure they are completely stupid before yelling. It sucks to be a victm of a Troll, because it shows they are more clever then you. Best way to deal with a Troll: Humor them. Play along with them. Don't "feed the Troll" by giving them more reason to continue to make you look stupid. Basic Trolls in chat make fun of people who make typographical errors, the most popular being "teh" and "liek", and script kiddies who use 1337 and "hax0r" speak. Advanced Trolls are much harder to spot and tend to be much much more clever. Trolls are annoying then dangerous, but sometimes they can piss someone off to the point they boot/hack the Troll. Which only proves the said booter/hacker is a moron and the Troll far superior is terms of intellect. Minus the HD. Threat - Moderate

One liners:(won line'urs) People who RP with posts that consist of one line. This can vary since people have different screen resolutions and font preferences on their computer, so it's a generalization. One liners are looked down and frowned upon by "Elites" and "Vets" of RP for being lame and having no skill. This is not true. While I can admitetly say one liners could add a bit more depth to their posts, using a small post does not mean it can't be descriptive or fit the situation. One liners are most usually also newbs/n00bs, and tend to not bother anyone unless someone judges their RP skill. It is then they get really defensive most of the time and lash out. The best way to avoid them, is to ignore the one liner, or not say anything to them. They'll only truly bother you if you think you have to para to be good at RP. Threat - Minimum.

semi:(sim eye) Not really an insult, more of a term. Semi refers to posts that are roughly half a paragraph. It can also mean a person who makes such posts. Semi is between one line and para. Semi posts usually contain more detail and depth then one line, but are a bit faster paced then para. Semi is an accepted form of RP, though some people will only allow a few semi here and there, and expect the rest to be para. Threat - None.

para:(pah ra) Short form of "paragraph". Term used to describe a post that is a paragraph in length. Either completely taking up the standard Yahoo Character Post limit, or becoming very close to. Para is the basic form of what a Role Player expects. And while I agree, there should be no problem making a para post, expecting someone to do so every turn is ridiculous. I refuse to force my post to a certain size even if the situation doesn't call for gobs of detail. Para is the most accepted and least controversial style of RP. If you para, it's a safe bet most people will like you. Term also used to describe a person who makes such posts. Threat - None.

multi:(muh'l'tee) Term used to describe a post containing two or more para posts. Short term for "Multiple Paragraph". Alot of fubars, vets, and elitists accept nothing short of multi, and dub anyone who does anything less a newb and not worth their time. Multi paragraph role play is subjective, and when someone says it's a standard, I disagree. I just can't see how you can make a multiple paragraph post every single turn. It will get to the point where you are bound to be stuffing bullshit into that post to get it to the two para minimum. Multi is a term some appreciate, a term others despise. Most one liners and semi players despite multi players because they find it utterly ridiculous to post so much. I agree. Para players on occasion multi, so they don't have an opinion. And of course, the multi players themselves say multi is the only way to RP. I admit, I am capable of often make multiple posts. But, that is as I said subjective. You just can't make that kind of post all the time. Multi calls for either a shit load of detail, or a shit load of actions. Multiple actions are frowned upon, as since I use the RET RP system, it's very easy to interupt someone's 4 multi para post with a simple semi single action. So, the basic multi is made when great detail is needed. The most common post to utilize multi properly is the intro. Intros bring the character(s) into a setting, and almost always uses a combination of actions(to bring the character into the tavern, club, across a feild, down a beach), detail to describe the character, and usually one interactive post that has the character somehow interact with their enviroment or another player/NPC. On average, I expect an intro to run 2-4 posts, 3 being the average. However, I condone and support intros much longer, if the situation asks for it. But....the dark side of multi, is when you have people using an entire para post, just to describe how their character scratches their ass. They can throw out a six para post no problem, and it could contain anywhere from pointless unecissary actions, over amounts of uneeded detail, thoughts and flashbacks in the character's mind no one else knows about, inner struggles, to excess repeats of words and fillers. Multi can be a good thing. It can also be a very, very bad thing. Like anything, it must be used in moderation. Threat - Moderate/High.

mmp/ers\mass multi para/ers:(mass muh'l'tee pah ra) This is the kind of person almost everyone will hate, but only fubars and elitists will like. A mass multiple paragraph post by most standards is any post six or more paragraphs long. People who make these kind of posts actually fancy themselves the best of the best. They think just because they can post huge ass posts it makes them better then anyone else. A one lining newb can sit at his desk for an hour, and combine all these one line posts into one huge mmp post. He posts it in chat. People either gawk in awe at his 1337 RP prowess, or yell at him for scrolling the room. Length does not equal skill. People who make these posts are mostly elitists that accept no less from other people. These posts are simply ridiculous. I mean, honestly. I've made what, three mmp's in my entire Online RP career? Three. People make them 3 times per session. I just honestly can't see why you'd ever make a mmp. Unless your character was going through a transformation, battling like 5 NPCs, having a dream, going crazy, or the planet was about the explode. These are almost always followed by people yelling at however spammed the room with such a piece of shit. MMP in chat is a no go. I don't care. Just don't it. Keep your 12 para posts to IM. This is role play, not an interactive novel. Keep chat a clean place. Threat - High(Even though rare)

metagame: (meh tah game) This term can mean a few things. But at heart, the "Metagame" is the current state of a multi person aspect. Examples include, but are not limited to: Online Pokemon competative battling, Role Play, and most other online PvP games. Further examples would be:

In the current Metagame of Pokemon GSC(Gold, Silver, Crystal) the usage of Toxic is no longer a power and deadly move. This is because there are so many pokemon with the Rest ability, they can easily shrug off both the damage and the Toxic status.

In Role Play, the current Metagame is in shambles, people in chat typing either one sentence intros or massive 4 para ones. Some are pretyped, some aren't, most suck. They are redundant, and revolve around trying to score. There are of course exceptions, but this is what is happening.

In Armored Core Nexus, the Metagame revolves around Heat and Damage racing. High accurate, high damage, multi weapon usage is the key to success. Often times the deciding factor of a battle is which AC is better designed, rather then pilot skill due to the new engine and physics.

Metagame is a term, nothing more. So if you hear it being used, now you know what it means. Diligent observers of the Metagame gain an edge in whatever it is they are participating in. Make sure you keep an eye out and pay attention to what is going on in your feild.

auto:(ah toe) An auto is an action, event, or status placed upon your character that you have no control over. It is also when another player literally takes control of your character. Examples include but are not limited to:

Joe runs up to you and throws a hard right, connecting with your jaw. As you recoil from the blow, he quickly advances and plants a thrusting kick to your gut, sending you flying back into the wall, falling down in a slump. Joe saunters up to you with a grin, pulling out his pocket knife and cutting you across the face. He laughs as he watches you bleed "What's wrong? I thought you were gonna kick my ass?"

The Tavern's floor boarding collapses out from under you, sucking you down into a dungeon like chamber under the building.

Amy sticks her hand into your pants, feeling around for your man hood. A brief giggle escapes her lips as she feels how small it is. "Sorry baby, but you better give damn good oral if you want this pussy".

"Alch direnkt!" Finishing the enchantation of the magic spell, Roderrick gains control of your body. Holding his hand high into the air, your body is lifted up off the ground. His hand clenches shut, and a tremdous pressure is applied to your wind pipe "Last chance! Where is the scroll?!"

Example one is a basic T style of battling. Joe simply hit you over and over, continueing his attack and not giving you a chance to do anything. He auto'd you because he made his attacks connect, not giving you time to counter, dodge, or avoid. He made you hit the wall. And he made you bleed. A simple interupt stops his post though. Example two is an example of how someone NPC's the enviroment to force conditions upon you. Whoever made that post didn't stop to check to see if you had time to jump out the way. Example three is the basic cliche woman, making her genital insults. You can read up on my view of these type of women in my LJ. Basically, she out right says your e-cock is small, when we know damn well 89% of all guys who RP have who ass fucking e-cocks. She controlled your e-penis. Example four is another combat senario, this time some guy God Modding using simple words and "magic" to basically do whatever he wants. Since there is no way to gauge magic, since it doesn't exist, technically magic's power is limitless and people can abuse it. Which is why most people don't use/RP with those who do use magic. Auto's annoy everyone who has common sense about RP. Don't do them. You'll piss someone off. And if you didn't mean to, apologize and try not to again. Auto's take the fun out of RPing. Threat - Moderate.

god modding/er:(gawd mawd'ing) Moderate/Advanced insult. Term used to describe when someone plays a character that resembles a god, or the act of doing so. Traits include but are not limited to: Ability to fly, psionics, mind reading ability, ability to control and shoot burts of energy from hands, ability to control the elements(to an extent), ability to change weather(to an extent), extreme speed/strength/agility to the point where you simply can't hit them, invisibility, invincibility, imorrtal, able to ressurect themselves, and ability to kill with a thought. Yes, I seen someone try that. Playing against a God Modder is never fun. There's nothing you can do against one. God modders are mostly n00bs who use god like powers to compensate for lack of skill. Threat - Minimum(Since most people just ignore/void them)

vet:(veh't) Short for Veteran. Someone who has been around for a long time and knows their stuff. RP vets should be able to recall a time when clans were afoot in every chat room, and as soon as you entered, you were IC and had to be aware and to be cautious. Vets remember back when no one voided actions. If someone attcked you, PC or not, you always responded and the risk of loosing a character was high. People accepted the fact their character lost, and didn't try to revive them or anything. They just cut their losses and made a new character. The term is not an insult. If anything, a compliment. Acknowledging that someone is a vet shows respect, and will be given respect in return. However, sometimes experiance gets to people's heads, and they think just because they're a vet that makes them > you. Try not to get offended. Just ignore. Threat = Minimum.

elitist:(e'lee'tis't) Advanced insult. Hits hard and hits home. Elitists are people that no one likes, and it's a given that everyone tries to avoid them. A sure fire bet to see if someone is Elitist, is to diss an Elite, or Elites in general, and anyone who defends them and tries to argue with you is god damned sure to be an Elite. They're the only people who would defend Elites. Another Elite. Being called one is definately an insult and should be treated as such. They are on the same level as n00bs, since no one cares how powerful or skilled you are. You're just an ass, that's all people care about. So try not to put yourself in a place to be called one. Oh, and on the flip side, don't go around calling everyone you don't like an Elitist. You just might get yourself into some big trouble. And if they defend themselves and explain why they're not an elitist, you're left sitting there looking like a moron as the rooms laughs at your stupidity. Use with caution. Threat - Very High.

master debator:(mash'tur dee'bae'tur) Advanced new age insult. See above in Rants "Master Debator". Yes, "new age". It's very recent, within the past year. A term I believe I helped popularize. I don't statke claim to any of the other new age insults. Just this one. Threat - High.

fubar:(fuu'bar) My favorite. Advanced new age insult. Not to be confused with "f00bar"(fucking n00b). Fubars are tricky to deal with. They're are talented RPers, who understand that length is not everything. They realize a true role player does not impose a post restriction upon themselves, they free form and just let the post come off the top of their mind. They don't auto, and it's possible for them to have interesting characters. The trick? The insult is aimed at the typist, not his character or RP skills. Fubars think they are cool, because they think just that they are good at RP, that gives them the right to play RP Police. They will find the smallest thing to pick on you about, and do so viciously. They are clever, and usually don't outright insult you. A common trait associated with Trolling. They are quick witted and good with words, so arguing with them is really a chore and can prove to be challenging. Usually fubars get away with being a bitch/bastard because they are so smooth about it. Don't let them fool you. Assholes can be both smart and stupid. I've seen just as many fubar men as I have fubar women. So gender isn't an issue. Just be very cautious with them. And you know what? If you see someone being victimized by a fubar, help em out! Fubars can be so difficult to deal with sometimes a person can't handle them by themselves. So give some support, and help rid our Chat Rooms of these postules on the posterior of humanity!

emo:(e'moh) Advanced insult. This is meant to really offend someone. Term with a broad range of meanings. Mainly a type of music, overly emotionaly angsty stuff. Then the term was used to label people who listened to the music, but it's much more then that. Emo people crave attention, yet they front with the image that they want to be left alone. They blow small problems out of proportions, are overly dramatic, whine and cry over things so insignificant they'd die if they had to deal with some of the things "other" people deal with. They're generally annoying because they're always vying for attention and sympathy, and just want to the center of the crowd. They also have a habit of scratching their arms and calling it suicide attempts, and taking a few tylenol and saying "I OD'd last night cuz my mom won't buy me that new pair of sneakers! She hates me!" Emo people whine, fake suicide, whore for attention, and on average get on everyone's nerves. Because of this, emo's hate being called emo. Because....well, they're emo. It's an effective insult. No one likes being called one. Threat - High.

That's all I can think of for now. I know there are more. If I missed any or you want to add some of your own terms just IM me on Yahoo and I'll add it.

Chat Abbreviations
These are those odd lil combinations of letters that mean something more then what they appear to be. The whole is greate then the sum of the parts. You get the idea. I'll post as much as I can think of, like before if you see any I missed let know:

lol = laugh out loud: Means you find something funny. Oddly enough, people never really actually laugh out loud most of the time. It's a figure of speech. It has spawned the knock offs: lolz and olol. Adding z to sound cool and making fun of the typo "olo" when someone mis-strikes the keys in the wrong order. Phonics = elohel.

omg = oh my god(See also: omfg = oh my fucking god): Used to show great suprise or shock. Also used often in conjuction with the Yahoo ":o" smiley. It's a quick way to show that you're agast at something. It also makes fun of preps. Don't ask how. It has spawned the knock offs: omgz, jomg, zomg, ofmg(my own creation) and such. They're basically adding extra stuff to not sound redundent. Ofmg = oh fucking my god. Originally a typo I seen someone used, and adopted it in my screen name. It offends a few of the people who figure it out. Good for a laugh and an auto Troll. Phonics = oh em gee, oh em eff gee.

brb = be right back(See also: bbl = be back later): A quick a simple way to let someone know that you are going away for a second. Which one you used is determined by how long you think you'll be gone. Brb is usually quickly, and on the same thought, bbl is when you think by the time you come back the other person(s) will have moved on and done something else. Basic. Phonics = be are be, be be el.

ttyl = talk to you later(See also: ttylt = talk to you later then): A friendly form of saying bye, showing that you intend to speak with the person again. Basic. Phonics = tete why el, tete why eltee.

afk = away from keyboard: Used to show that you will not be at your desk/keyboard, so as to notify people not to messege you, or if they do, to be aware you will not immediately be able to respond. Basic, and very polite. Phonics = aye eff kay(See also "afak")

fyi = for your information: Tact this on to show that you are giving friendly info. It can also be used to imply a sassy tone in correcting someone. Or at the end of a statement, to sorta disarm any hostilites. Phones = eff why eye.

ooc = out of character: Short speak. Means you are not playing your character. Phonics = ohoh see.

ic = in character: Short speak. Means you are playing your character. Phonics = eye see.

atm = at the momment: Simple short speak. Phonics = ayeteeem.

(The following you may not be aware of, but those who use forums and messege boards should know)

imo = in my opinion: Used defensively to show that whatever you said is simply your opinion. Helps disarm hostilities and shows people you're not being an ass and think your opinion is always right. Use often if you're not afraid to speak your mind(like me) Phonics = eye em oh.

tl;dr = too long;didn't read: Short speak to basically tell someone that whatever they said you didn't really give a horse's ass to read because it was too long. Can be used to annoy someone, or to merely let them know that you just didn't read what they said. Phonics = te eldee are.

iirc = if I recall correctly: Used also as a defensive thing. Tacting this on the end or beginning of something you says lets the person know you are not completly sure about what you are saying, and if you are wrong it'd be pointless for them to use it against you. Very helpful. Phonics = eyeye are see.

gg = good game: Short speak for showing good sportsmanship in online games. Wether you win or not. It's just polite. Not necissary though. Phonics = gee gee.

ltu = long time user: Someone who has been using/been around whatever for a while. Ltus are not to be confused with vets. You can be a Ltu and suck and have no skill or experiance. It just means you've been at something for a while.

xd = Smiley: Closed eyes and grinning. Not really an appreviation, but because I see people using the phonics version it goes here. Phonics = ecks dee.

I probably missed some. Blah blah, I'm still updating, you know the drill.
