Changing Moon
The changing
moon shifts in the night sky. Luna twists and changes, employing deception and
misdirection to hide her true face. So, too, do the Children of the Shifting
Moon. Those of the Changing Moon Caste are master manipulators and tricksters.
They survive through stealth and cunning, trusting in their ability to make
others anything the Lunars wish. A Child of the
Shifting Moon radiates raw animal magnetism. His every movement and mannerism
is oriented toward inspiring a desired response, be it fear, trust love or even
disregard.
Those of the
Changing Moon Caste are the Silver Pact’s premier spies, assassins and leaders.
Their mastery of misdirection and illusion enables them to enter places where
they are not wanted, while their irresistible charisma and charm allows them to
bend hearts and minds to their will. Many Changing Moons have established
themselves as divine rulers of isolated tribes and urban gangs. A Changing Moon
does not allow himself to be noticed unless he wishes it. If he desires to be
invisible, you will not remember his face, nor will you feel his hands
relieving you of your most treasured possessions. If a Changing Moon wishes to
be noticed, he will capture your interest with his perfect face, he will gain
your trust with his sincere charm, and he will control your heart with his
honeyed tongue.
Changing Moon Lunars’ talents for misdirection and charm extend to combat
as well. Many are cunning fighters who excel at guerilla warfare, striking
unseen and forcing the enemy to fight on the Lunars’
own terms. They are powerful war leaders as well, using stirring speeches and
acts of daring to whip armies of barbarians and beastmen
into berserk frenzy. Children of the Shifting Moon also serve as scouts and
infiltrators, sneaking unseen into enemy encampments and seducing information
away from unwary dupes. They are the Lunars most
frequently found in the Threshold, often giving those outside of the Silver Pact
the impression that they are much more common than other castes.
Luna selects her
potential deceivers from those who possess natural cunning or charm and are
willing to manipulate others in order to ensure their own survival.
Trials: A Lunar of the Changing Moon Caste typically survives his
trials through the use of cunning or guile. Powerful foes are defeated through
underhanded trickery. Wild beasts are brought down with stealth and skill.
Fickle spirits are impressed with grace and charm. No matter what the
challenge, the Changing Moon navigates his way past using his personal
magnetism and scheming mind.
Totem Animals: Changing Moon Lunars
typically favor animals famed for their beauty or grace. Great cats, birds of
prey and serpents are common, as are animals hunted for their fur or skin.
Anima Banner: The animas of Changing Moon Caste Lunars are shifting prisms of bright silver light and
dark-blue or purple shadow. As more Essence is spent, the prism intensifies as
the colors grow brighter and the patterns shift faster. When their banners
become iconic, they depict abstract or realistic images of the Lunar’s totem form.
Anima Effects: A Changing Moon Caste Lunar Exalted may
spend 10 motes to transform his anima into a veil of illusion, appearing to be
anyone he is familiar with for the rest of the scene. This effect ends if the
character’s anima banner activates at any level or if the character has
significant physical interaction (such as combat or sex) with another
intelligent creature. This illusion does not change the character’s scent or
voice. As creatures of deception, the Fair Folk are immune to these illusions.
Caste Attributes: Members of the Changing Moon Caste are
naturally inclined to survive through the use of personal charm or cunning.
They possess a natural affinity for the Attributes of Charisma, Manipulation
and Appearance.
