Farming
Farming is a profession that can be Grand Mastered in a day, so long as you have the patience and the money.  Once you have mastered each tier, you can begin using differetn types of soils to give crits on your farming, which in turn allow you to produce various special items.  Many dye mats of the scholar as well as cook mats are crits of the farmer, including juicy strawberries, iris roots, and blackberry honey.
Farmer Quests: There are no quests for the farmer to complete between tiers.  Simply farm a lot all day, or a little each day, and you can get your grand master in farming!  We have found that 4 fields at a time are about right, that after 6 fields they begin to disapear, and that 5 fields is ok as long as you are not distracted.  Also, if you do not stack the fields on top of each other, you will be better able to choose the 'oldest' fields to harvest, and thus utilize your time more efficiently.

Once you have mastered that level, use the soils sold at the NPC farmers to crit your fields.  Using these soils give you a crit on every field, enhance your yield, and give you a higher chance of getting scholar and cook mats, which can then be sold at the auction (Or given to your friendly, kin scholars/cooks!)
Farming Recipes: This website has a database of recipes for all professions.  Narrow down your results by specifying profession, proficieny, and how it is obtained (vender, monster drop, etc)
Items used by a farmer: Any tipes of seeds and soils, fertilizer, and water are all used by farmers.  Farmers and cooks can NOT use the same water, unfortunately, and so if you happen to be both, be prepared to have a lot of water siting in you vault.  Most items are purchased at an NPC farmer although while tending your fields you can make more seeds and so most of the costs are when you are just starting out.  Also, remember that you must have 5 seeds to make one field, so if you get them from a quest you may still have to buy a few more.
