Preface

THE BOOK OF FIAT: Insurrection, insubordination, occupation and revolutionary politics at the FIAT motor company – 1907-1982

PREFACE

The book contains a collection of articles and writings about the historic struggles of workers in the FIAT motor corporation in Italy, from 1907 to 1982. They were collected in Italy as part of a project of militant workers’ inquiry, during the hot years of the FIAT struggle, notably in 1970, 1974, 1979 and 1980

It was originally planned to publish the book as a Red Notes pamphlet in 1982, alongside two other pamphlets about the British motor industry.

Now, forty years later, it has proved possible to take the book to press.

A joint publication of Red Notes and May Day Rooms.

‘Faith sir, the book was lost, and because

twas pity so good a play should be lost,

we found it and play it.
