A small explanation
In the
1970s I was heavily involved in revolutionary organising in the motor industry.
I was
also translating Italian political theory.
And I was
regularly visiting comrades in Turin, where I was able to discuss and document
the ongoing history of revolutionary working class organisation at the FIAT
motor corporation.
Then, in
the early 1980s, my energies were suddenly redirected into political theatre.
In early
2020, in the course of preparing my political archives for conservation and
storage at the May Day Rooms archive in Fleet Street, I made a surprise
discovery.
Under a
bed (yes, literally), I found a whole set of file materials that I had
translated and edited with a view to producing a volume to be entitled “The
Book of FIAT”.
It would
be a pity for so fine a book to be lost to history. So, in cooperation with May
Day Rooms, we are now taking the book to press.
As the
editing processes are completed, the chapters of the book will also be published
on this present website. This is a work in progress.
