INSTANT MESSAGING--6/17/04

Oh, instant messaging.  That jolly little digning noise that says "Someone wants to talk    to you!"

You can't resist it.

Can you think of a bigger waste of time?

Yeah, I'm just SOOO glad that I ran across IM.  'Cause I don't waste enought time        watching TV and listening to music.  No, I need a fun, easy, free way to talk to my        friends!  Yay!

I didn't know that when I loaded Instant Messanger on my computer I also loaded          Instant Slacking, Instant Goofing-Off, and Instant Time Wasting all at the same time.

And I have the latest version of them all.

Yes, and I admit it, whenever a new version of AIM comes out, I'M THERE.  I mean    RIGHT AWAY.  Yannow it's always got those new features.  Gotta have those cool      features.

"Try new version 9.0!"

Well, thank you VERY much, AOL.

There goes my productivity for the next week and a half.

And what about trying to get a good screen name?

I mean that hasn't happened since the late '70s.  Hope you can think of something that    800,000,000 other people havn't thought of.

Good luck there.

I mean if you didn't get on board before, like '83, you have numbers in your screen        name.  I know 'cause I was  lookin for one the other day, and I was thinkin, "Well, I      know
partyguy is gonna be taken, so I'll try for partyguy123."

Let me tell ya somethin... apparently all the '123's have been gone for awhile, too.

So, I type that in though, hoping that I have a shred of originality in me, and it says,       "I'm sorry,
partyguy123 is taken, would you like partyguy51044?"

Are you kidding me?  Is that really the next one that's available?

Pretty soon people are gonna be like, "So what's your screen name?"

"Well, it's partyguy... and then MY DRIVERS LICENCE NUMBER."
