SOUTHEAST ASIAN ARCHAEOLOGY
INTERNATIONAL NEWSLETTER

ISSUE NO. 5 OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 1994

Greetings! This is the last issue under our editorship (at least hopefully for a while). We established this newsletter for the purpose of disseminating information on current research in Southeast Asia and other relevant information using an informal format. Our hope has been and continues to be encourage communication among archaeologists residing in different countries who share a research commitment to Southeast Asian archaeology. In thinking over the past two and a-half years of our editorship, we have certainly enjoyed meeting many archaeologists working in the region and learning about many of the research projects being conducted in Southeast Asia. We hope you have benefited from this newsletter and the attempt to share, in a timely manner, information on the archaeology of this region. Of course, the extent to which the newsletter has been successful, and will continue to be, depends on contributions from our readers. We are grateful to everyone who has made the effort and taken the time to send us submissions and we encourage everyone to send submissions to the new editors (listed below). Our thanks to all!!

Rasmi wishes to extend here sincere thanks to the Wenner-Gren Foundation for her Developing Country Fellowship in anthropology for 1991-2, 1993 and 1994. This has assisted her in continuing her Ph.D. work and allowed her the time to be a founder and editor of this newsletter.

This issue is funded by the following institutions at the University of Michigan to whom we express our sincere gratitude:

-Museum of Anthropology
-Department of Anthropology
-Center for South and Southeast Asian Studies
-Rackham School of Graduate Studies
