Copy/Cut and Paste is really easy.
To move text (or graphics) out of one document (eMail posts, Word document, website ) to place somewhere else. This technique works in lots of Windows programs - wordprocessors, browsers etc. It can be used to move information (text or graphics) from one program to another as copies from the original document e.g. from eMail posts to wordprocessors to graphics programs to spreadsheets.
Copy means that an invisible copy will be sent to the "Clipboard" ( you never see the clipboard unless you have special programs for that). Cut means that the selected text will be cut out of the original and an invisible copy will be sent to the "Clipboard". Both Copy and Cut are used with the idea that the selection will go to the invisible clipboard to be later pasted into another document.
There are two different means of accomplishing this technique; one with a mouse the other with the keyboard. Both do the same thing. First you have to select the text you want to copy. Cut means that the text will be removed from the original document.
Selection is always the same -
1. Position the cursor in front of what is to be copied or cut.
2. Press Shift and drag the cursor across the text or graphics to be
selected.
The background will change color behind the selected text
to identify it.
*** Alternatively Control-A will select the entire text in a document
for copy to the clipboard. With this selection you can more quickly select
the majority of a document and trim the selection by continuing to hold
down the Shift key and single click inside the document.
Mouse method -
It is located under the Menu selection EDIT where a drop down box will appear with the features Copy and Paste.
Keyboard method - this is the quickest method
1. Press Control-C (copy) which makes an invisible copy.
*** alternatively Press Control-X (cut) also makes
a copy but cuts from the original text.
2. Position your cursor where you want the copy.
3. Press Control V (places the invisible copy on the screen)
