A lot of people and bands go around saying all kinds of stuff about how much this world needs to be united, how much better it would be if we all just got along as one big happy problem free family. These people parade around with their oficcial "punk rock" unity patches, and their unity shirts, they sing and talk about unity, but do any of them really act upon their monotonous preaching of thier preacious unity? Some of them may defend a cirtain race or religion or group of people that are being made fun of or persectuted or secluded and thus they believe they are doing the world a huge service in promoting unity. But that same person may then turn around and do something like make fun of that kid in the back of the class who doesnt have many friends or that person will only date the "beautiful people" because your physical appearance and what other people think about you is more important than how much fun you have with a person or what that person is like on the inside...right? Some of these fighters of unity may say something like "I am white and i have a black friend because I'm all about unity man." They think because they slap on an anti-swastica patch and criticize other people for not being unified in one way or another they are doing their part. I think every single person who wears one of those unity patches is a hipocrite. They went from representing hope for the future, that maybe someday people will no longer feel the need to discriminate, will no longer feel like they must try to be better than the next man and do for himself at the expence of other innnocents, not a very realistic dream but at least it was at one time it meant something to people. All those patches and shirts represent now is another trend. One typically followed by a group that supposedly is different, that supposedly dont follow the crowd like a bunch of sheep. Most of them do though and they know it, they just dont want to admit it. They just have their own trends that are different than the mainstream trends like A&F, or structure, or gap, etc. Do these people that scream for unity practice the act themselves? Do they accept every group, every race, every religion, every creed, or every sexuality? Would they congregate with everyone of every body build, social standing, economic level, education level, nationality, regional location, political standing, or gender? Do these people with their patches and shirts get along with or acociate or befriend the disabled? How about people older or younger than themselves? Or do these factors cause biased opinions about people who aren't the same as everyone else. But will unity, or can unity ever happen? Well concidering every single person on this planet is different from every other living being in some way or another, I really doubt it. Even if somehow unity were possible, people would have to actually try and not just follow the crowd like so many do. I'm not saying every punk is a poser or that there isnt anyone out there in this world that really truly wants unity, I just dont believe it will ever happen with all of the ignorance and closed mindedness in this world.

Impossible goal (seth)
Chorus: Unity-youre never gonna get it
You say you want unity while you spit in the other guy's face
Nothing for everyone to agree on, this aint new
You tell them not to judge and yet you judge them too
You don't believe in what you say
You don't say what you believe
Just wearing a mask hiding the way things are
Youre just wearing a mask hiding the way things are
You guys don't know what unity's about
You lack the very thing that you need for unity
I try to help you out but you wont listen to me
Youre ignorant, blinded and so narrow minded
I try and try to get through to you
But im different so you wont listen to me
Youll never be united youll always be divided
Youll never be united youll always be divided
