WEST QUANTOXHEAD (operated by Terry Allen)
This layout has suffered during storage and is now ready for refurbishment by myself. I have decided to rename it "West Quantoxhead". The premise being that the GWR with Government help began to build the line just after the Great War to link Bridgwater on the Bristol/Taunton main line to Minehead to make the journey to Minehead easier for traffic coming from the Midlands and the North. The Government money ran out just before work commenced in tunnelling through the Quantock Hills and so the line ended at the foot of them. The line served a largely agricultural area with large villages at Nether Stowey, Stogursay and Cannington.
Overall view of layout from the station end.
View of layout before refurbishing started. The track plan will remain the same but several of the lineside sctivities will be altered along with the station buildings.
A view of the goods shed and coal yard. This area will be possibly the area most altered on the refurbished layout.
