SuSE is ‘Best Business Linux’

SuSE Linux has secured a fresh round of investment, about $14 million, led by e-Millenium 1, a VC and private equity company focussed on Europe. Meanwhile, SuSE, which is in the midst of a restructuring program will cut workforce from around 500 to around 380 by early 2002.

Yet another shot in the arm for SuSE came in the form of recognition for its Linux distribution. DH Brown Associates, long time watchers of Unix capabilities, have crowned SuSE Linux the most functional Linux distribution.

DHBA’s categories for reckoning Linux distros were the standard RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability), Scalability, System Management, Internet/Web services and Directory Services. RedHat and Caldera took second and third place respectively.
