Frequently Asked Questions About the New
MCP Logos
Q. I am a Microsoft
Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Microsoft Windows® 2000. How will the logo
distinguish me from an MCSE on Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0?
A. The MCP program has replaced its continuing certification policy with a plan that allows ongoing recognition of credentials for as long as they are in demand, while still providing a means to differentiate individuals who have updated their skills to the latest Microsoft technologies.
Starting in April 2002, these identifying titles will appear on certificates and transcripts so that candidates will be able to indicate the specific area of expertise represented by their certification. The logos will not contain the identifying titles and may not be modified to include them. For example, an MCSE on Windows 2000 and an MCSE on Windows NT 4.0 would both use the same MCSE logo. You may indicate the full title of your credential in text elsewhere on your business card, résumé, and stationery.
Q. I hold both the
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Microsoft Certified Solution Developer
(MCSD) credentials. Can I combine the two logos to represent that I hold multiple
certifications?
A. No. MCPs who are certified with more than one credential may no longer combine the individual credentials into one logo. For example, you may not create a logo with both the MCSE and MCSD designations. The primary goal of the unified program identities is to provide a strong, consistent brandrepresented by the Microsoft Certified logosthat will help certified individuals gain immediate recognition as MCPs. Using logos inconsistently or modifying the artwork in any way, such as by combining certification titles within a logo, compromises the integrity of the clear, consistent branding represented by the logos.
If you would like to feature more than one credential, you may do so with separate logos. Alternately, you may choose one logo and then indicate your other credentials in text (without a logo) elsewhere on your business card, résumé, and stationery. Microsoft developed these policies to protect the integrity of your certifications and to ensure that credentials are not misrepresented.
Q. I earned my MCSE on
Windows NT 4.0 last year. How can I get a new wallet card indicating the new title?
A. Individuals who earn their certification before April 2002, will not receive a new Welcome Kit automatically. However, they may request a revised Welcome Kit beginning in April. Details on how to request a Welcome Kit will be available in February.
Q. I am a MCSD. How
may I obtain the MCSD logo in the new design?
A. All certified individuals may download redesigned logos for their respective certification from the MCP secured site starting in April 2002. More information on downloading digitized logos will be available by April. Customers who would prefer to have camera-ready hard copy of the logos may request this starting in April. Details on how to request hard-copy logos will be available in February.
Q. Will I receive a
new lapel pin, wallet card, and certificate displaying the redesigned logo?
A. Individuals who earn certifications starting in April 2002 will receive a Welcome Kit automatically containing elements with the new logo design. (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrators will start receiving their Welcome Kits in February 2002.) Individuals who earn their certifications before April will not receive a new Welcome Kit automatically. However, starting in April, they may request an updated certificate, logo, or entire Welcome Kit. These items will begin shipment in April. Details on how to request these items will be available in February.
All customers may also download digitized logos for their respective certifications from the MCP secured Web site at any time starting in April 2002. Customers who prefer camera-ready hard copy of the logos may request this starting in April. Details on how to request hard-copy logos will be available by February.
Q. I have a supply of
business cards already printed with the old logo style. Can I continue to use these cards
if I want to?
A. Please begin using the new logo on items such as your resume, business cards, and stationery as soon as possible and plan to discontinue using the old logos by July 1, 2002. The primary goal of the unified program identities is to provide a strong, consistent brandrepresented by the Microsoft Certified logosthat will help you gain immediate recognition as a MCP. Your cooperation in using the new logos and discontinuing use of the old one by July 1, 2002, will help ensure that the program achieves this consistent identity.
Q. May I incorporate
the MCP logo into my companys logo? Is my company allowed to use the MCP logo to
show that it has certified staff? Which colors should I specify when printing stationery
with the MCP logo?
A. The revised Microsoft Certified Professional Program Logo Guidelines are now available on the Training & Certification Web site and will be included in the new Welcome Kits starting in April 2002. Please read the logo guidelines to learn about appropriate use of your certification logo. The guidelines also describe inappropriate use of the logo and your rights and responsibilities related to using the logos.
