3 ‘peddlers’ fall in Panitan raids

 ROXAS CITY — Three suspected drug peddlers or pushers, including a former member of a drug syndicate in Manila, were arrested in simultaneous raids conducted Aug. 26 by a composite team from the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Group, in Barangay San Jose here.
  
Armed with a search warrant signed by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Salvador S. Gubaton, the team of  PAIDTF led by Chief Insp. Ricardo Alba  searched the house of Ronnie Capapas  y  de la  Cruz,  38.
 
Seized inside Capapas' house were 2 sachets of  suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu; 2 improvised tooters; a disposable lighter; 7 pieces of crumpled aluminum foils; a small plastic of used acetone and  a  P100 bill.
 
In the same raid, the team also arrested one Isidro Capapas y Apines, 29, after a teabag of suspected dried marijuana leaves and seeds were reportedly found in his possession.
 
In another raid conducted by the CPMG team led by Supt. Ren Darroca also in Barangay San Jose, a search warrant was also served on the house of Yolly Teodosio y Blancaflor, 46. 
 
Confiscated from Teodosio's  house were a    .45     cal.    pistol  (Thomson); 2  live ammunitions of .38 cal. pistol; 6 disposable lighters; 3 units of cell phone; 4 pieces of cell phone casing; 4 pieces of used aluminum foil; and 2 small plastic sachets with suspected shabu residue.
 
Also found were 2 pistolized-type cal. 22 airguns, a used aluminum  foil containing suspected shabu residue; 2 big sachets with suspected shabu; and P1,904.25 cash. 
 
Alba,   PAIDTF  head, said that Teodosio is a former member of the big time drug syndicate called 14k in Metro Manila. He was apprehended before in a raid in Pasay City and was slapped with drug charges.  

When the case was dismissed, he went back to Roxas City purportedly to start a new life.
 
But the PAIDTF recently found out that Teodosio was one of the suppliers of illegal drugs in Roxas City.
 
Teodosio's  name was also included in the watchlist of  top ten suspected drug peddlers in Capiz, according to Alba.
 
Capiz police director Sr. Supt. Efren Quintos said he was pleased with the successive raids and appre-hensions effected  by the PAIDTF and CPMG as part of their anti-illegal drugs campaign in Capiz. 
 
Quintos  urged each Capiceño to help and cooperate with the PNP by giving information about the  of illegal drugs operations in their community. He also urged every parent to be on the lookout and  guide their children because they might be the next victims of illegal drugs.

PANITAN, CAPIZ — Two houses were raided by joint elements of the 1st mobile group headed by deputy police chief Supt. Ren Darocca and the Panitan police headed by Chief Insp. Ricardo Alba around 6 a.m. Aug. 27.
 
The raid was based on the warrant of arrest issued by executive judge Salvador S. Gubaton dated Aug. 27, 2002.
 
The suspects were identified as Primo Demalata y Delima and brother Mabini Demalata y Delima, both residents of Capagao, Panitan, Capiz.
 
Recovered from the house of Primo Demalata were a 12 gauge homemade shotgun with magazine loaded with 6 live bullets; an M-16 baby armalite rifle; 3 pcs. of 5.56 M-16 magazine; 60 pcs. of live ammunition for 5.6 Rifle M-16; 4 empty shells of cal. 38 pistol;  1 magazine for 22 cal. pistol; a live ammunition for cal. 22 revolver and 1 fragmentation grenade “atis” type. Mabini’s house yielded one cal. 45 pistol; a cal. 9 mm pistol; a magazine long cal. 45; 4 magazine short cal. 45; 2 magazine 9 mm; 83 live ammunition cal. 45; 147 live ammunition 9 mm; 12 gauge double without ammunition; an inside holster for cal. 45; an inside holster for 9 mm; an outside holster for cal. 45; an outside holster for 9 mm; a magazine pouch for cal. 45; 1 magazine pouch for 9 mm; an ammunition pouch for cal. 45; a red plastic ammunition casing for 9 mm and a cartoon ammunition casing of 9 mm.
 
Alba said he received reports that the suspects always fired their guns discriminately everytime they were drunk. But the suspects said they kept those guns for self defense.
 
A violation of PD 1866 or illegal use of firearm was filled by the Panitan police against the suspects.
 

Capiz firefighters turn blood donors

 ROXAS CITY — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Capiz  conducted a bloodletting activity at the Roxas City Fire Station on Aug. 29 in support to the  efforts of local government units against dengue outbreak in the province.
 
Dengue cases in the past two months of this year revealed an alarming figure of 547 patients as of Aug. 28 of which four lives were claimed by the outbreak based on the status report disclosed by the Capiz Provincial Health Office/
   
The project dubbed "Sugpon" is spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal in view also of the bureau's foundation anniversary this month.
 
Sugpon, an ordinary visayan term which means continuation, is envisioned to help save lives by preventing blood shortage in the province. It is further  expected as an initiative for civic-minded Capiceños to express their concern to share and help a fellow in the brink of losing life due to loss of blood.
 
Sr. Insp. Avelino Aninacion, provincial fire marshal chief and project director, said that the specific objectives of the activity are to ensure enough supply of blood to help dengue patients as well as the Philippine National red Cross and to open the way of PNCR priority to BFP personnel ensuring emergency situation.
 
Aninacion added that the project also seeks to establish the noble existence of the bureau in the community on top of a meaningful, useful and commendable Foundation Anniversary celebration.   The project solicits the support of local broadcast and print media in its campaign to increase the numbers of walk-in donors of non-BFP members coming from various  sectors willing to donate blood.
 
An estimated 80 BFP members provincewide along with their friends and relatives have signified their desire to be part of the activity.
 
A total of 20 firemen donated blood.
 
FO3 Pancho de la Cruz, operation section chief of the OPFM, BFP Capiz and project coordinator, said that donors from the 
bureau will get a priority card as well as a commendation from the PNRC and the Bureau Regional Office while non-BFP members and walk-in donors will have a certificate of recognition.
 
Firetrucks running with sound of sirens coming from its respective Municipal Fire Station will be utilized on the day of actual bloodletting activity to create awareness among residents along the way.
 
BFP Capiz is projecting a yearly bloodletting activity thru the support of its regional and central offices, LGUs, PNRC, socio-civic groups and local media.
