 Suspect in girl’s  killing yields

ROXAS CITY — The suspect in the killing of a  teenaged  girl  here surrendered on June 5  to a judge handling his case.

Carlito Dolfo, 38, of Arnaldo Boulevard here, said he wanted to clear his name and prove that he was innocent of the crime imputed to him.

Dolfo and two others were facing murder charges before the sala of regional trial court judge Manuel Barrios allegedly for killing Charibelle Lobo, a second year nursing student at the St. Anthony College.

He was charged after lone witness Alani Barrios of Barangay Tanque here tagged him and his two unidentified companions as the one who killed Lobo on the night of Jan.12.

Lobo's decomposing body was found last Jan. 15 at a vacant lot near their house in Barangay Baybay here, three days after she was reported missing by her family.

It is believed that Lobo was raped before she was stabbed to death.  However, the officer who conducted the autopsy found it hard to prove the rape  theory because of Lobo's decomposing body.

Dolfo said he was in Manila working since January. He said that when he learned through his relatives that he was tagged as a suspect in Lobo's killing, he consulted his lawyer who advised him not to go home.

When Dolfo finally decided to come home Wednesday, his brother, Carmelo, contacted city Councilor Alan Celino to help facilitate his surrender.  Celino then accompanied the suspect to the sala of Judge Barrios.

Dolfo was detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology here.  No bail was   recommended  for his temporary liberty.
