There are two reasons why this is fair:
1) Anthony, being the lowest seed accepted into the playoffs, should not be granted an automatic bid into the "main field," while another better-seeded player was eliminated.
2) Due to the "new seeding", BC Joe moved ahead of Adam. Suppose that Dan is not included in the picture:
BC Joe would move up to 7.
Adam would remain 8th.
Anthony would move up to 9th.
Therefore, BC Joe should be granted an automatic bid to the "main field," and Adam should play Anthony for the single play-in game.
