That's My Take Archive Mid May, 2001- Marathon Thoughts, Buffy's "The Weight of the World", Angel's "Through the Looking Glass"

Buffy's "The Weight of the World" When Dawn hit Ben over the head, he changed to Glory. So there's another thing that suggests pain can revert the two. But with the way things are, Glory might be the good one to have around. But she's unkillable. Wouldn't that be awesome. If Ben were to get all evil & hard to kill? & Glory the good one, possible offering herself up as a sacrifice for the world, but, yet, immortal? It sounds like the Key is Glory's, that it does belong to her. So, if you kill Ben, that dangerousness of Dawn fades. But, there's still some good purpose to Dawn, I know it. There has to be. Death is not Buffy's gift in that manner. Her gift is to love Dawn. & that wasn't the First Slayer, it was her guide. But, if Death is the gift, then it is not to kill Dawn, but to kill Ben. But, I just don't think she has the right. This whole killing Dawn thing is exactly what I said when "Intervention" aired, Buffy's gonna think her gift is to kill Dawn, but it's not. It's to love Dawn. Xander's big brother because he was the heart of Buffy, the heart of the slayer. Buffy must follow her heart to defeat Glory, by not killing Dawn. Big symbolism thing there from "Restless" with Ben's unmade bed. Unmade meant human, civilized. Buffy & Faith making a bed together, they both have that uncivilized, slayer- demon- in them. Overall, this episode was tremendously disappointing. If you've been watching this show closely, which I have, all those concepts were just reruns. I've discussed those concepts in here many times. It was almost not needed. Slow moving. Especially after last week. The only new thing was about the line between Ben & Glory fading. The last thing I'm gonna mention is something that really pissed me off: How dare the WB say it's the series finale. Angel's "Through the Looking Glass" Later in the week: I didn't see that parallel between acting & being princess when I first watched it. I mean, I got the whole you're-admired thing, but the point Tim Minear was making in this episode is that you're told what to do in both cases. You lose you're freedom. I had this thought. I feel bad for the Host because he didn't want to go back to his home dimension, he did it for Cordy, & now he's dead. But, when you think about it, this is gonna be a little spoilerish (I get more spoilers from reading interviews with the writers than anything else), since Fred is gonna be a cast member next season, meaning everyone was meant to go there to get her, in the grand plan, the Host was drawn into our dimension years ago just to get Angel & everyone there to get Fred. So, if that's true, then, looking at the Host's death in a positive way, he was given the gift of being in our world. A world with music. That he was happy for a sort period of time... when you think about it that way, this sad situation is sorta beautiful. Thursday: Joss was the guy who did The Dance of Joy. Like how Joss slipped the word 'shit'. I didn't have time to put this up yesterday, but, upon rewatching this episode, it seems to me that it's Wolfram & Hart's existence in that dimension- it's their government, their covenant, as they call it. & now Cordy is their leader, in name. It was actually Wolf, Ram & Hart, not Wolf, Lamb & Hart (which probably is what made me not get that the first time around). Tues: The promo totally ruined the teaser. Something I do, when I'm watching episodes, I bring a tape recorder & record the thoughts I have so I can write up That's My Take easier. & when I was watching this episode, I said "I don't get that Wolf Lamb and Hart", ya know, the 3 books, but, upon hearing me say that, okay, Wolfram & Hart. So, what does that mean (I pose without rewatching the episode) that Wolfram & Hart planted those books to get Cordy away from Angel- to cut his link to the powers? Being Queen is like being a celebrity. It's pretty much playing on Cordy's weakness. I knew that was the Host's head on that plate as soon as they brought it in there. So, why the hell did he need to go there. Unless his friend is getting paid off by Wolfram & Hart- in another attempt to cut Angel off from the Powers. & the reason they came to the hotel & said they were taking his lease was to add to the feeling that Angel wanted to get out of this dimension. But, the Powers want Angel there for some reason to do with Fred. But, ya know, how powerful are Wolfram & Hart? Couldn't they plant a vision in Cordy? I mean, now Angel sees that dark part of himself. & the girl- I don't know- she could be working for them. I thought Fred had blue eyes. I don't know, but it's interesting. Yup, the wicked one is running the show now that Lindsey's gone. This episode was pretty entertaining.
