Early-Mid May, 2000- airing of "The Yoko Factor"/"War Zone"
My Thoughts on the subject of Buffy and Angel

Buffy, "The Yoko Factor":
Riley pulling a Faith? I think not. Come on, you know better. Maggie Walsh shaped Riley just as she shaped Adam. What you must remember is that Maggie had a plan for Adam & Riley (reference "Goodbye Iowa"). Now, Adam's going to enact it. Also note that Maggie was indeed evil. Adam has stated that he was created to destroy life wherever he found it. What is happening to Riley I'm sure is not under Riley's control. It's what Maggie had programmed him to do- be it a chip or mental suggestion or whatever- Riley's not turning evil- for real anyway. I thought I'd mention to those of you who don't know about this: but this episode was the first part of the "season finale". No, Joss didn't write it (Joss, don't make this a habit) but, because of "Angel", obviously, Joss is doing something rare. The rap-up of the season, what is usually the last 2 episodes of a full-length season, is occurring in the 3rd & 2cd to last episodes. & then the very last episode Joss will write- but it'll be after the season arc has closed up. Did that commercial for next week look a little "Matrix" to anybody? I honestly have no clue what Adam's plan is. It doesn't make too much sense- separate Buffy from her clan- what'll that do? Why is she so important to his plan? Forrest dying. I liked Forrest in a sort of hateful way. He was just lost. That was the person all the rumors have been about. Things indeed have been deteriorating with the Scooby Gang- but then again, the bonds have strengthened as well. They're not stuck in one place anymore- this isn't High School- they don't have to be a clan anymore- it's their choice now. It was good to see Buffy & Angel make peace after about a year of being uncontented with one another. It gives me hope for them in the end. Angel was surprisingly cool about Buffy having a new guy. Angel's definitely the most noble & admirable character in the Buffyverse. Just don't ask Xander about him. Buffy still hasn't redeemed herself for being such a whinny little bint last week on "Angel". Ya know, I like Riley & Buffy, as a couple, I do. I hope they make it through Adam because they're good for each other. Someone please stop with the Giles singing. I mean, Toni head singing on his own is one thing- but not when he's playing Giles. It's just too much for me to handle. This episode had a very funny & enjoyable ending. Random fact, Riley was jailed in rm 114. Buffy & Willow's dorm is 214. & 314 is what Maggie Walsh called the project that is Adam.

Angel, "War Zone":
Some good acting, mostly of the guy who played Gunn's part. The dialogue was nice. The episode was a little slack, but it was written really well. It was definitely more than what I expected of it. They sure have been trying out a lot of new writers on "Angel". Ya know, Angel really doesn't like cellphones. I was thinking today- what would Joss have done if "Angel" hadn't taken? Was there like an alternate ending to "I Will Remember You" where Angel doesn't turn back time? Speaking of "I Will Remember You", that was perhaps the best Buffyverse episode. I rate it a shade under "Becoming". The whole production was just so amazing. If "Buffy" or "Angel" don't win some damn Emmys this year I'm gonna have a bitch-fit. On to the episode, these two gangs- vamps vs. humans- represented real human gangs in L.A. & other cities. It touched on some serious issues with gangs. Nice to see some more L.A. relevant topics coming up. Did anyone sense a little Wesley/ Cordy heat at the end of this episode or am I just obsessed with finding Cordy a man? I have one beef with this episode- how did it help anyone by letting those vamps go? Yeah, it saved those kids- but how about the dozens of people those vamps are going to be feeding on in the next week? Angel's all: this is my town, blah, blah- men are so territorial. Hump. Moving on to Kate. I really hope they don't kill her off or make her the bad guy because I really like her. I don't wantta see her gone- plus if Kate's gone they're probably going to have more of those pointless girl de jours. I liked the group of vampire hunting street-kids. I liked Gunn, the leader of the group- complex character. My spider sense is telling me that he's going to be a cast member next season- just listen to me, I somehow know these things. Oddly, I think I'm finally starting to think that "Angel"'s gonna be just fine without Doyle.

Buffy & Angel:
This is so depressing- 2 more weeks & then a summer of nothingness. I'm gonna die. Worse yet the week after the finale I've got classes again. This is just too depressing. & I really hate the fact that Joss isn't writing the "finale". I mean, I know a lot of people were disappointed with "Graduation Day", but I thought it kicked ass. Oh, something I should discuss is the feedback of last week's "Buffy" episode. If you're one of those people who went on the buffy.com posting board & insulted Tara & Amber Benson, you should know that Joss is really angry with you. I mean, people- have some respect. You weren't just attacking an actress who has little control over what her character does- you're not just attacking homosexuals in general- you're attacking Joss. Joss runs these shows. He brought Tara in because that's what he wanted for his vision. You're not just rejecting Tara (which is very wrong to do, but I won't get into my personal disgust at people doing what they did last week), but you're rejecting Joss & his work. The only time I've ever truly disagreed with what Joss wanted for these shows was when they killed off Doyle- but as more facts about that surface I see that when that executive decision was made, who Doyle was or what he would grow to be to the writers & the audience weren't known. Anyway, moving on, going back to me being depressed. Hasn't this season gone by fast? OK, now I'm even more depressed- 3 more seasons of "Buffy" & then it's over. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when it's over. This show has become such an important thing to me. Well, I'll be depressed. Obviously. Duh. "Buffy" & "Angel" are such great shows, it really is going to be a tragedy when they go off the air.
