Update: Feb 4/5th, 2006 (Ice Climbing in Ouray, Colorado)
Went to Ouray, Colorado near Durango for some fun ice climbing with John and Christi.

Christi belaying. What's up with the pink down jacket? Girl power?

Here she goes... up into the vertical ice world! Will the "pink" help?

Man, I think the "pink" IS helping!

Nearing the top... the butt shot of climbing.

Gettin' the hang of ice climbing...

My turn. Here I am (circled) at the bottom of a climb.

Moving up. Kinda wished I had a pink down jacket to give me some power! Noooooot!

Nearing the top and tired.

3/4 way up I realized my left crampons had popped out (circled). Ouch!

John at the start of his climb.

John climbing up.

John going at it.

Update: Feb 18-20th, 2006 (Sierra Nevedas, California)
Once again, back to the Sierra Nevedas for more mountaineering practice. The weather was brutally cold -- ended up getting minor frostbite on finger tips! Christi and I were there to clock in more hours on the mountain in preparation for Mt. Rainier's Liberty Ridge this upcoming summer.

Here I am on the approach. Weather turned for the worse -- in full winter gear! We went up the North Fork route -- Whitney Mountaineering Route direction. Lower Boy Scout Lake is behind me. We camped near Upper Boy Scout Lake, ~11,000 ft, for 2 days and practiced some mountaineering stuff.

Christi in her winter gear -- goretex shell much needed!

We hiked towards Whitney, but because we had started late in the day, we did not summit. It was COLD!!!!

We hiked out on Monday during a storm. I blew this one up big because... if you look closely, you'll see Christi "smiling." What's up with that? It was COLD!!! Is she having a good time? Jeeez!!! Crazy gal!
