The
Youth Tarbiyah Camp will take place from Friday, August 1st
until Monday, August 4th.
Camp
Kanaka is in Whonnock, British Columbia, a township just outside of
Mission. From Vancouver, it is approximately 45 minutes east and is
nestled in a tranquil, mountainous area. Youth participants will be
picked up from a central, convenient locale (e.g. IQRA' School, Surrey)
and taken to and from the campsite as a group in mini-buses. Thus, youth
and parents will not need to drive out to the campsite for pick-up or
drop-off.
Camp
Kanaka includes TWO beautiful buildings -- Lougheed Lodge and
Tilicum Lodge -- with sleeping quarters consisting of 56 and 24 bunk
beds in spacious rooms with heating and windows. The main hall seats
more than 100, and is equipped with audio-visual resources, a large
patio, and a gas fireplace. A First-Aid room, 2 large in-house bathrooms,
2 fire pits, a large in-door sports facility, and a playing field are
additional features.
Brothers and sisters will be housed
in completely SEPARATE buildings with their own sleeping, bathroom,
hall, and kitchen facilities. Moreover, adult supervision
and 24-hour security (in addition to the camp's own security system)
will be provided.
All measures to keep camp participants
in a safe Islamic environment will be taken, insha'allah.
