J. C. Ryle, Anglican bishop of the diocese of Liverpool, was called the evangelical bishop. He held firmly to the 39 Articles of the Church of England. He was also a writer of many books, like "Christian Leaders of the 18th Century" which is published by the Banner of Truth Trust.
