A Hymn of Praise to

  St. Mena the martyr   

1-     I open my mouse joyfully                         and sing with hymns

        Hail to St. Menas                                     the martyr of Jesus Christ

2-     By the will of God                                    I will you of this righteous

        He was a solder                                       a strong champion and zealous

3-     He was from a princely house                   this precious body

        His mother was called Euphemeia              and his father Eudoxis

4-     Euphomeia his mother                               was a barren woman

        She asked from the undefiled                   the Virgin  the mother of the Migthy

5-     She answered he prayer                           and said to her “Amen”

        and she gave birth to a boy                       who is the faithful st. Menas

6-     This chaste boy grew up                           and became a solider

        Clever and very knowledgeable                  in the Christian subjects

7-     HE was a lover of God                             well known for his courage

        Regular in prayer and fasting                    adorned and meekness

8-     This chosen one was called                       to worship the idols

        He confessed publicly                              I am a servant of the Judge

9-     I abandoned the earth                             and all that is in it

        I sought the heavenly things                     for the love of its Creator

10-   Blessed are you O the elect                      the son of Eudoxis

        Who conquered the wicked                       the sons of the cursed Satan

11-    Hail to the Hero                                      the chief of all the courageous

        Hail to the warrior                                   who takes away all sorrows

12-   Hail to you day and night                          O the brave man

        Your name the distrcts                             the countries and regions

13-   Hail to St. Menas                                     the worker of all wonders

        Hail to St. Menas                                     who prevent all adversities

14-   Known as the Wonder-worker                   among all the men of valour

        I ask you to intercede for me                   on the day of Judgement

15-   Your wonders are many                            O the guaded hero

        The are innumerable                                O the martyr of the Holy God

16-   You performed great wonders                  with every one who came to you

        The shepherd also                                    confessed your wonders

17-   Hail to the Wonder-maker                        the faithful St.Menas

        Hail to the strong hero                             intercede for the believers

18-   You won three crowns                              from Holy Lord

        With the joy and gladness                        O the preserved hero

19-   One for martyrdom                                 and one for virginity

        And the third for                                     your solitude in the desert

20-   Blessed Bleesed are you                           O the honorable one

        The angels chant to you                            “worthy worthy worthy”

21-   The Exposition of your name is                 in the mouths of the believers

        All of them proclaim                                 “O God of St. Menas help us all”
