Merry Christmas! I hope that everyone is embracing the comercial spirit of the season and got all the toys and gifts that they wanted. I know I did. And if you didn't get all the gifts you wanted, I hope you got enough money to buy the rest! I know I did. Isn't Christmas great? But serriously, I hope that everyone enjoyed a happy Christmas with friends and family, a good Christmas Dinner, and just a generally enjoyable day. Merry Christmas, tomorrow we can all brave the stores for those post-Christmas sales.
Well, I haven't slept in about 16 hours, which is bad for me. But considering that I leave for home in about an hour and a half (for the hour), it's not neede to go to sleep. Yay caffeine. It keeps me going. And going. And going. I feel like the Energizer Bunny (c). No drum... but I keep on going, and going, and going... Which brings me to a interesting point that just poped into my deranged and tired mind. The icon for Energizer batteries (c) is a bunny... their catch phrase is, "It keeps on going, and going, and going..." No, there's nothing sexual about that. After all bunnies just keep on breading and breading...
Sorry bout that last part, I'm tired.
It's 5:30 in the morning, and what am I doing? Updating my web site, what else? Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving, I know I did. My break started Tuesday after school. I though I had the house to myself, so I went and raided my housemate's DVD collection for three movies I have been meaning to see: A Clockwork Orange, Donnie Darko, and Pulp Fiction. Clockwork was good, nothing particularly incredible, but good. Interesting social commentary, which still applies today. Donnie Darko is absoutely incredible, it's now one of my favoriet movies. The ending doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but that's ok, it's still a great movie. I highly recomend that everone go and rent it. And sadly, I haven't watched Pulp Fiction yet, and I have school tomorrow, so I guess it'll have to wait for a bit.
My Thanksgiving went very well. I went to my Aunt and Uncle's place. My Aunt's brother and sister were also in town, so it was quite a crowd. We all went to the retirement comunity where my aunt's mother is staying to have dinner with her. I feel a bit bad, though. My laptop OS (Win 2000 pro) managed to get a bad error, so I had to reinstall the entire thing with my Uncle's disks. Having never had done that before, I had no clue how long it would take, and I ended up taking my laptop into the dinnign hall with me to finish it up. I feel bad, but that wasn't something I could have turned off. If my parents are reading this, don't worry. The install finished about 5-10 min. into dinner, and I put my laptop away right after that. It now works just fine. After dinner we all went back to the house. The siblings had to sort through their mother's stuff, so the rest of us either relaxed to went swimming. I relaxed and reinstalled all the drivers and what-not for my laptop. That evening five of us went and saw The Incredibles. Third time for me, first for everone else, and they all really liked it. Go see it! Other than that, my week off was very quiet, so not much to report. In about 5 hours 15 min. I get to register for my next semester classes, here's hoping I get into what I want.

And now the temp is in the 60's. I don't get it, it's the week before Thanksgiving, it's supposed to be snowing. Instead it's very warm and all the snow we got has melted. So much for "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas". Classes are going well, almost over. I gave my group presentation for psychology. Only one paper and one more presentation in that class and I'm done... except for the final... Still, it seems like the year is almost over. And it is. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
The snow is melting, unfortunately. The temp. rose to the 50's, so the snow is going away. Oh well, at least the house is warmer than it was last week. I'm writing this in my sociology of everyday life class... Probably not the best place to write it, but there's only a group presentation going on right now, so it's not incrredably important. I also turned in my last field report to this class today, and it was only three weeks late, so now that's one less thing to worry about. I have a presentation in psychology on Wednesday, and once that's done, I'll have even one less thing to stress me out, yay!
I need to look up when I can sign up my schedule for next semester, and I also need to call Dad to see if I have a flight home for Christmas. New episode (for me) of Navy N.C.I.S. tonight. Unfortunately Teen Titans will not be new for a while.
Well, the snow is thick on the ground and it's bright and sunny out, go Boston. I worked two shifts at the theatre yesterday, then went and forgot that I had switched my shift today to an earlier time, so I missed it. I am so very mad at myself for forgetting about that. It just... argh.
Here's a quiz that I stole from my good friend Tess, thanks Tess! Everyone go visit her site Foozle Monkey Interesting quiz, and I'm in the right mood to do it.
1. Nicknames? Cat, TaharkaIt's snowing up here. Finally, winter has started, at least for me. So far, the snow isn't sticking to the ground, but it's snowing heavily, so soon it should start to pile up. Had a holiday yesterday, thank you veterans. Not much else to report.
Today is a great day. Bright blue sky, no clouds in sight, and temp of 23 degrees. Yay, I'm freezing my nose off. And we only turned on the heat in the house last night. Basically, it's cold. It supposed to snow by the end of the week. Fun!
I highly recomend that everyone go and see The Incredibles. It's incredible. I've already seen it twice and been this close (=) to seeing it twice again after that. Basically it's a great movie. Go Pixar!
The schedule that I'm looking at for next semester looks interesting. New Media Production I, Computer Animation I, Media Crit and Theory, and a Psychology Seminar. Basically my classes would start at noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with Tuesday and Thursday off. I'm excited because I'm going to start in my actual major!
Hmmm, nothing more to say.

My second day of school here in Boston. I love my schedule, only one class, which is on Wednesday, that starts before 2 in the afternoon. I'm writing this from my classoom before class starts, since I now have a laptop and a wifi connection (my college provides wifi service to all students free of charge). And guess what? I'm in the same classroom that I was in for History of Media Arts one and two. Room 233, I was looking forward to not being in here again, since I have a problem staying awake, but oh well. The problem is that the room is perpetually cold, with very comfortable padded seats.
Well, other than that, I don't have much to say. Other than I'm getting my new TV with TIVO on Friday, hopefully.
Well, shoot. I had this nice long entry all about how summer was over and everyone was going back to school, and what a great summer I had, etc. Then Aol crashed and I lost it. Sigh, oh well. The jist of it is that I had a wonderful summer with my friends and family, and I'm glad to be going back to cold weather, but I feel obligated to loath going back to school because it's school.
My last fun time with my friends who are still in High School will be the football game on Friday. I leave the next day to start the great road trip up to Boston. I'll arive in Boston on Friday the 3rd of September. After saying that I went into the bowling we all did this last Friday. It was a lot of fun. Well, Aol kicked me off again, but this time I had saved before hand. Anyway, I'd like to leave you with this quote
"People are a lot like flowers. It's been a pleasure letting me walk through your garden." Lord Buckley
I finished my freshman year in College no problems. Did well, and now that almost all of my gen ed requirements are out of the way, I can start the fun classes (not that the other classes wern't fun). I've also set up my minor to be psychology, so that's fun. As soon as I can find it, I'll post my writing final essay for all to point and laugh at. If any of my friends see this and care to send me picture for me to post, I can do that. Just e-mail them to me.
Just a quick update, two new pictures added to my computer animation link. The blue church scene was actually an accident of sorts, but I think it came out looking kinda nice.
I'm back at school and it's extremely cold. Today when I went to class the temperature was -1 degrees. Currently the temperature is -5 degrees. Rather cold, isn't it? Classes look good this semester. I have only one class on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. And my one class on Tuesday and Thursday starts at 4 o'clock, so I can sleep in! And the crowd rejoices. Plus my class sizes are all 25 or less with the exception of my History of Media arts class, which is still big. But that's alright because we sit in auditorium style seating (it's a movie projection room) and since I sit in the second row to compensate for my hearing, I don't have to look but at the back of the head of a few people. Which is great.
Pictures are posted. If you see any bugs, please tell me.
Merry Christmas to all! Well, tomorrow anyway. I hope everyone gets all the presents they could hope for. I feel kinda bad because I don't have enough for some of my family members, and nothing at all for others. Oh well, I'm sure they will understand that I'm a college student and therefore on a limited budget. Today I am up at my grandfather's, and will be until Saturday. I even got to drive part of the way here! It was really nice, although I need to lear how to relax while driving on the highway. My neck was rather stiff by the time I turned the driving over to my mother. For some Christmas funnies, check out the link on the side. Merry Christmas once again!
Just a quick update, don't have time for much else. Got home safely, and the flights were even comfortable! I managed to get a window seat and the seat next to me on both flights. Trans-Siberian Orchestra is INCREDABLE! I went to see the concert here in SA and it was just so neat. Thank you Pop! What a great Christmas present. I've started working at my job selling fireworks, although today and yesterday, all I did was to stock them. That's still fun, however. Other than that, not much to say. Just a nice break so far, and I'm so glad to have seen my friends.
What did I do today? I had one class for about half-an-hour while we filled out the course evaluation. After that I went Christmas shopping. That was fun, almost got everything bought. After comming home, I stayed home, packed, and just sat around, generally. Fun day, right? The snow is still thick on the streets. I'm kinda tired now, so I'm going to finish. Goodbye for now. Soon, I'll be home! Yay!
Ok, so I'm able to update a little more than I thought, and I'll be able to update over Christmas too, since Yahoo has a editor built into the site. Today was nice, more treking through snow and slush to get to classes, psychology and history of media arts. For some reason, it was extremely hot in both classes. Hot to the point that I wanted to just be in a t-shirt and shorts. Sadly, I couldn't, so in hma (history of media arts) I just about fell asleep. We watched a part of an episode of the Howdy Doody Show. Somehow, I prefer Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood. Oh well, since I was almost comatose, I didn't mind too much. After that, I just went home, and finished my essay for writing, which I posted under the Written stuff page.
Well, it took me a while to get this site up and running. I was originally going to do it through Emerson, but I never got around to it. Then I found out that my free account on Yahoo gave me free web space too, so I decided to finish up this site and post it.
So what's been going on in my life so far? Jeez, too much to tell. School's been great, though. I love my classes and schedule, because I get Fridays off. Unfortunately, that changes next semester, and I don't get any days off, although I do only have one class on some of the days. I'll post my schedule as I get time later.
My classes this semester have been great, and I'm sorry to leave them. Writing was fun, in its own way. With only 17 people in that class, it's the most discussion based class I have. And we talk about a lot of neat things in there. The last essay that we read was called "Panopticism" and it's all about order and dicipline in society. For our final essay, we had to read Fight Club. It's a good book, and I like it for the ideas it puts forth, even if I don't care for the amount of foul language in it. Still, all in all a good book, and it got me thinking about insanity and individuality in society. Fun stuff. I'll post my essay in the Written Works link later.
Psychology rules! By far the best class I have had in my entire school life. The course was an overview of psychology, taught by a practicing psychologist (duh). What made the class so great? The topics we went over were all fascinating to me, and the teacher was great, and she made the subject interesting. I can picture a class taught by some old guy who was alive when Freud was making his advancements, and that would really suck. I really want to take more psychology classes later, even though I don't want to change my major (my major is New Media, or Computer Animation for those of you who didn't know). I don't want to become a psychologist because I don't think I could deal with having to listen to other peoples problems on a day to day basis. I also don't want to teach, so there's no point in getting a psychology major. Maybe I can minor in it... hmmmm....
History of modern art was a very nice course. It covered art history from the beginnings of Impressionism (Manet) to just after cubism (Picasso) and the Bauhaus school. The last topic was nice because our teacher had a friend of hers come in to talk about the Bauhaus. This lady who talked to us was a fried of Mrs. Gropius! No, not Alma Gropius, but Gropius' other wife. She knew Bauhaus! It was great to hear her talk about all the developments that she had lived through. Other than that, modern art doesn't do much for me. I don't like Impressionism because it's too impressionistic. I know, it's supposed to be, but I prefer the old style where a painting was an accurate capturing of life around the painter. I like realistic art, basically. Darn the camera! If it hadn't come about, Impressionism probably wouldn't have happened! Oh well. I also really don't like Cubism, because I don't understand it at all. I look at some of Picassos cubist art and I can't find the figure that is the subject! I really don't like that, but that's just me. I'm very glad that I took the course, however, because it furthered my knowledge in the subject, which is always important.
My final class was history of media arts. What a class. We started with the development of radio and moved all the way to sound in movies. We even watched a few color ones, too. This course is a two semester one, so I'll be taking the second half next semester. We watched so many movies in there! Every Monday night was devoted to a screening of a movie, and most of the class on Tuesday and Thursday was spent watching a movie also. So many silent movies! I don't care for silent moves too much, though. Don't know why, but I just don't. They are very different from the modern Hollywood blockbuster. We watched a number of other movies too, including Citizen Cane, Triumph of the Will, and Why We Fight. Those are three of the most recent moves, anyway. All in all, not a bad class.
Weather wise, Boston's been great! It snowed all weekend. We got about 20 inches or so! It's so pretty too. Pretty enough that the slush in the street doesn't bother me. It's almost surreal to see the Boston Common covered in snow, and largely untouched. It even drove off all the homeless that like to sleep there. Of course, it drove them off because it covered all the benches, so now there's no place to sit. When I get pictures, I'll e-mail them to various people. It was fun to have it snow.
Now I'm done. For a while, anyway. I go home on Thursday, and don't come back here until mid-January, so the next update will be around then. Hope my family and friends enjoyed this site! more news to come, one day.
