  Chandu on the Three Investigators

Hi, I'm Chandu from India. I'm 18 years old. I'm a big fan of the Three Investigators. I first came across the Three Investigators when I was in class 8th. That was in the year 1996. The first Three investigators I read was The Screaming Clock. And within no time I was a big fan of the series. I read many other titles from the series, but usually these books were hard to find, at least in India, but luckily our school library had a good collection.

What made these books different from the others? Well Hardy boys and other books are more of action than mystery and suspense. And more importantly they didn't have a Jupiter Jones in them, to add that little bit of thrill and excitement! And I found these book more realistic then the others. If you read Hardy Boys you find that the teenagers travel all over the globe and do some high flying stunts which I find very unlikely. But Three investigators the cases are  more or less confined to a particular territory. One classic example is The Sky fire Puzzle. The Hardy Boys to go the NASA and try to investigate a sabotage. How much more absurd can it get? A couple of teenagers helping the NASA to investigate acts of sabotage?!?! I'm not trying to compare the two series but I'm just trying to point out, what made Three investigators better books to read.

The essential element in their stories is the headquarters. A trailer hidden by the junk and had access though various secret entrances. Also the various inventions by Jupiter, like walkie talkies, metal detectors etc are a great help on their cases. And someone famous like Alfred Hitchcock to introduce their cases is something amazing. but when Alfred Hitchcock died the writers introduced a new fictious character Hector Sebastian to introduce their cases. I found Alfred's cases much more interesting but I'm not going to complain. I'm happy reading about Three investigators, no matter who introduces the cases. Also the way Jupiter attracts attention of his clients by including the three question marks on his card is a very smart. These small things make the series score over the rest.   I would like to conclude by that the Three investigators are the best!!!!

Chandu was introduced to me by Philip. We got along quite well and he is very nice - a neat pal. He is always very enthusiastic and has been instrumental in the making of this site - Basil Andre Diengdoh
