Malaysian Hospitals A Maternal Hazzard
photo

It was November 1985 my aunty Tunku Akmal was delivering her 5th child at Hospital Kajang but her pregnancy weren't going smoothly as expected she had to go through caesarean birth because her uretus is too small for the baby girl.

The gruelling eight hours operation had taken it's toll on her health she had lost many pints of blood leaving her too weak when it comes to deliver the baby. The doctor said her placenta is way below the normal pregnancy and she will be in trouble of complications during her pregnancy.

Unfortunately the doctor in the Kajang district hospital didn't do enough to accommondate her stay in the hospital most of the time the staffs there ignore her plight as they were short handed. The facilities in the Kajang hospital is much to be desire no proper medical tools and apparatus to accommondate the sick. The sick including my pregnant aunty was seen suffering by themselves no proper care for their wellbeing.

Later my aunty was transfered to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital (KLGH)bloodied and losing much blood she was rushed without proper procedures against her family wishes. When she arrived at KLGH she was pronounced dead but her baby girl survived but without a mother how unfortunate. Then the specialist in KLGH said that my mom could survived the pregnancy if proper procedures and care where taken earlier on.

Another valuable Malaysian lives lost to the careless care of Malaysian hospitals that disregards the precious lives of many Malaysian. It's reported Malaysia suffered one of the highest maternity mortality in the region. I wish Malaysian hospitals could be equiped with better equipments so that innocent lives like my beloved aunty Tunku Akmal would not go down the drain.
