Malaysian Educational Standard Declining?
photo

As we all know it the SPM (SAT) result are out and many students were seen burst in joy as they achieved good results for the exam and for me it's dejavu all over again. But is our educational system really progress as reflected by the highflyers we better think again. Since the inception of SPM we haven't achieved great scholars like Plato, Socrates neither we gave birth to such an excellent mind like John Nash, Adam Smith etc.

This is because our education system based on exams and not creative thinking, Malaysians think that getting straight As in exams are the yardstick for progress and the government under the current education minister Dato Hishamuddin really go through hardwork to ensure that Malaysian students get such a good result a far cry way back when I was still studying.

The performances examination charts often reduced significantly by the education ministry to met with the government standard and to the extent gave the current education ministry setup a good name. In one year for example the percentage pass mark for mathematic were lowered to almost 15% students need to get 15 marks to pass the exams literally.

We Malaysian need to revaluate our current educational system the ministry need not succumb to pressure and set a low standard for students to get a good result in their exams. The government should stop lowering the passing percentage and start making up a dynamic and credible timetable for our students to ensure that future Malaysian could compete with the world in the globalisation era.

ya, i really agreed with you statement..
That our education system are based on exams and not creative thinking.

They should not use results as the only yardstick to determine or to classify the students. They should included the students involvements in side activities, such as koko, and sports activities to be evaluated in the final examinations [such as SPM,PMR, and etc].

Since, we want an all rounded person, not only the 'nerd' who can digest the school text book, and vomit it back when it comes to examination time.

I've just finished my spm last year, and yes, I'm really active in enriching my ownself with side skills. I've enjoying myself and entered the reka cipta competition until the national level and etc etc, but still, i dont get any recognition and side benefits of it. To talk about study, yes. I admit, that i'm not 'that' brilliant who scored straight a's. i've just got 7a's out of 10 for my spm. Still, it's hard for me to get the MARA scholar to continue my study.

It's really sad to see how our government works nowadays.

Their mission is something like this, "if you can't beat them, join them' . Be with politicians, and you will stay alive.

This is not a good sign for the future. And the more sad thing is, most of them are malays.[who set for things to be done by the government].

Come on.Where is the spirit of "Malaysia Boleh"?
To Malays. How are we going to achieve the "towering Malays" status, if we still sit in the same place for most of the time.

Think back.. wake up young generation! we're short of time.
